Hey! I stumbled upon you while I was scrolling down the Apollo tag. Apollo just recently reached out to me, and I do want to worship him. I want to learn how to be able to show my devotion for him, I would love it if you could help me out! As of now I'm constructing a playlist of songs he might like, any songs you could reccomend? And if you dont mind, I'd love to hear about how you worship him
Holy Shit.
i am sure you sent this ages ago since this is asking a question about Apollon - who I was working with a long time ago. I am sure you must have navigate that space by yourself, but i will make a post about this regardless, since i still do work and worship deities only that in the past 5 years my practice has gone through a tremendous change.
A Very Brief Deity Work Guide:
A really great place to start for worshipping hellenic deities (like apollon) is to look into hellenic polytheism, mythology, hymns, epithets and history to get a better idea of what you are getting into and also to know for yourself if you want to have more of a reconstructionist take within your practice or worship how you would want. (i.e., worship the Gods they had been in ancient greece with similiar offerings, Khernips and ritualistic style of worship, or more of an eclectic path)
In my experience both work just as well, depending on what you believe in and what you feel comfortable engaging in.
Apollon in specific reigns over a multitude of domains, with music and musical instruments being one of them.
To show your devotion to him you can literally do Anything (and i dont say this lightly), as long as you dedicate it to him and do it with that very intention.
This is kind of where the discourse of - how complex can/ should working with deities be made? and my answer to that is - it depends on you.
A list of things that I personally did in my devotion to Apollo were these:
waking up in the morning and sitting in the warmth of the sun as the first thing I did or simply say good morning out to the sun if it was not possible.
drink a glass of water and pour one out for Apollon as a libation so we both have it together.
taking vitamin d tablets in his honour because i was prescribed them and why the hell not.
learning to play a new instrument (i felt insanely called to suddenly after i started working with him)
writing and singing songs on the said instruments.
writing poems in his honour.
meditating in his honour.
learning new forms of divination since he is also the God of divination and divine messages (i found that i learnt and progressed much more while i was working with him. he is the reason i got into tarot and have been reading professionally for the past almost 6 years)
meditate in his honour
carve out his sigils on soap, asking for protection and clarity while showering and dedicating that to him.
making a pinterest board of pins that gave me an Apollon vibe and dedicate that to him.
(i didnt do this but) if you wear make up you could dedicate that and incorporate glamour in it.
enchanting and wearing certain jewellery in his honor.
I think the point has been made - the things you can do are endless and can be of course customized based on your needs and specific deity.
As for songs that i really associate with Apollon -
Soldier, Poet and King by The Oh Hellos
Bloom - Bonus Track by The Paper Kites
Atlas Hands by Benjamin Francis Leftwich
Glitter and Gold by Barns Courtney
Rises the Moon by Liana Flores (ironic i know)
Mine Mine Mine! by Wind Rose (because i can and his candle went insane everytime at this one)
Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles (i mean come on)
I hope this has been helpful and I am so so sorry for such a late response - I have admittedly not checked by Asks but I am open to em now!
All the best and happy witching C:
Cheers!
