Bambi Lives!
I took this picture of a fawn in 2002 at the end of our first summer living on the mountain. People that lived there full time like us said wait a year and you will start to think of them as vermin. HELP us stop the #LongIsland #DeerCull! DONATE: http://bit.ly/1d33s4o JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP FOR UPDATES:http://on.fb.me/1expRYx This past winter the Long Island Farm Bureau and the USDA vowed to slaughter more than 5,000 deer on the East End using night-vision goggles, sniper rifles, and cruel drop-nets. In response, we petitioned, we wrote to the press, we spoke out at meetings , and even gathered by the hundreds for a rally in East Hampton. As a result of legal action and pressure brought to bear by a concerned and outraged public, Towns and Villages in Southampton, Sagaponack, East Hampton, Riverhead, and Brookhaven were forced to relent and/or renege on their plans to proceed with a deer cull. Thus far, thanks to our lawsuit, we’ve been able to save thousands of deer but now, we need your help to finish the job in order to save the hundreds that are still targeted for slaughter in North Haven and Southold. Please DONATE* to help fund our Young/Sommer lawsuit against the USDA, the DEC, and the Town of Southold. For donations made specifically to fund the fight for deer, please indicate this in the notebox when you make your donation. With your help, we can save Southold deer and help ensure this massacre is never proposed again on our beautiful island. Million-dollar "trophy" deer are bred and raised on farms, then transported to fenced hunting areas - this short video is a must watch. Also, keep this in mind next time Teatown, East End, Cornell, etc say there are 'too many deer' and must be killed.
