So, back during the 2016 election and the shit leading up to it, there was a LOT of discourse I was running into that actually genuinely seemed to be designed to splinter and balkanize left-leaning spaces.
A lot of this came from 'white people don't get to talk, they just have to accept what any non-white people say'.
Which is why I developed what I called the 'Ben Carson rule'. If your argument means that Ben Carson gets to be a spokesperson for all black people, your argument is shit.
We can do other variations on it. Milo Yiannopoulos, Caitlyn Jenner, Alice Weidel (deep cut for Americans).
I had left right-wing spaces back around 2012, although I'd already been slowly moving that way since the late 90s. I had still been in all those spaces, I had seen some discussion of strategies, and honestly?
I think a lot of the really toxic shit in left wing spaces comes from right wing origins. If it's from FSB contacts, right wing invaders, or just people who never did the work of removing right wing thinking patterns from their minds (and yet have less grace for those who fail purity tests than the right wing... you left them because they weren't purity culture ENOUGH), it's a problem that continues to need to be addressed.
