2. Are aesthetics important to you? If they are, why?
They used to be, I think. When elitist rp tumblr was really showing its face and that was the only way to get attention, I jumped onto the stylizing text and contained themes boat. It truly was the dividing line between if someone wanted to follow you or not, regardless of your writing abilities. Now, I loathe the thought of ever sacrificing my writing for a blog theme or for unnaturally edited icons or super subscript. I used to find myself writing around the expressions on icons or feeling a disconnect when the face didnāt match the writing or my icons werenāt as pretty as another writerās. Dropping icons from my replies not only freed me from the ties of aesthetic culture tumblr, it also gave me power to write more. Pretty blog themes and stylized text does not equate to good writing. Good writing will be good without all the bells and whistles. I very rarely visit anyoneās blog these days unless itās to read a bio or guidelines, I always follow someone first based off the writing I see them post, usually from the mobile sidebar.
3. What current rp trend do you hate?
I spend very little time on the dash these days, most of my acitivty is limited to my own blog, my activity page, and my drafts, so I canāt identify any new trends. None come to mind besides needless crazy formatting like hyper-edited icons and text. I just find it incredibly distracting and I will never shut up about how it does literally nothing for someoneās writing.
14. Ā Do you think rp has had a positive or negative affect on your life or you as a person?
Uhhhhhh well. Iād say we all have our traumas from the RPC. Weāve all met people weāve hurt and been hurt by in return, but in the grander scheme of things itās helped me learn to articulate how exactly I want to be treated, what I expect from my partners etc. RP is very insular so I wouldnāt go as far as saying itās affected my life or me as a person. I will say Iāve met people I might not have otherwise, so Iām thankful for that.
26. How do you feel about vague posting?
Itās fucking stupid, pardon my French. As I said before, the RPC is very insular. Itās going to get back to whoever youāre talking about. When someone makes a vaguepost itās with intent: you either want the person youāre vagueing about to read it and feel bad/sad/mad about whatever the fuck is bothering you so much or you want everyone else to question whatās going on. Itās drama. Itās needless. Itās childish. Donāt vaguepost, this isnāt a high school bathroom stall.
38. What advice would you give to someone new to rp?
Stick to narrative. Donāt get caught up in the ease of one liners. Theyāre great jumping off points but writing is not just dialogue, even scripts have narrative. Practice writing narrative and donāt let RP format push you away from that. Also donāt fucking worry about followers, they reflect nothing about your writing abilities.
