i think this is my favorite game of the series and here’s why
the powers were clunky and it was harder than the other two games but that was what people asked for wasn’t it?
daud’s death was offscreen but i feel like that was because he shows up again before you kill/save the outsider
I was very very pleased with the human outsider, the fixes of his voice too. They toned down on the reverb and that’s good.
i like how it wasnt focused specifically on the targets as we’re used to, just the outsider, the outsider is the story, the characters are kind of background
and that’s okay, this was a new formula. maybe other people thought it was because of bad game design, bad writing or whatever, and maybe that was it but i think it was deliberate, the targets weren’t the focus, regaining your honor was not the focus of the game
the outsider was the focus and the rest was just noise
it also accentuated how focused billie was, determined to fulfill her best friends dying wish, but slowly beginning to doubt herself. This was a far more lore driven game than the other two and i think that it’s supposed to be that way
there’s far less of a focus on gameplay this time around and there’s nothing wrong with that
as with how it ran, i was very very pleased with the results, but i do have a gaming computer built to play sims 4 and wow on the highest graphic settings - other people may have had texture issues but the void engine is honestly perfection
the hook mines (i think that’s what they were called), were incredibly fun to use, the rag doll effect could be a little jarring though, felt a bit too skyrim death animation to me, but that’s alright too, it didn’t take away from the experience (it was funny actually, added some relief to the tension)
Kay so now for the real shit.
Death of the Outsider, as mentioned before, is a lore driven game. So far I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews but it is to my belief that the general consensus is that the game is good.Â
I think that this game was the best direction that the developers could have gone with the series. It ties up so many loose ends and really makes you feel complete after playing it - and it also has some great replay value too. It was a wholesome game, there’s nothing else to say about that. (Except for the analysis I’ll be writing on Billie Lurk’s character development and The Outsider as well.)
But it also left some things open. What will the Void do now without a living representative? How will this affect the world of Dishonored? The Empire? The Pandyssian Continent? Will we be getting a new installment?Â
Probably not...
And that’s okay, because Dishonored : Death of the Outsider, left us on a very good note. I’m satisfied, as a long time fan from the very beginning, to see how this franchise has grown immensely from its original clunky jointed gameplay.Â
Regardless of whether or not Dishonored is ever even a thought in anyone’s head ever again, it has a very special place in my heart, and I’m just grateful I could watch such an intriguing story evolve over the years.Â
So is it worth the buy? Yes. I’d say, yes it is.
