#death note rant

When I first watched this scene i was already overthinking Light's charecter trying to phycoanalyze him only to see this motherfucker reach into Light's soul, his very essence and pull out everything leaving Light with a gaping wound that no amount of lies can cover up, and this all happened without Light's knowledge. I'm not overexagerating when I say this is one of my favorite quotes in all of Death note, L being the only person in this world and probably the cosmos able to understand Light effortlessly. A part of Light despised L and even feared him because he was the only one to ever see all of him, go beyond the mask and reach even further, so much further where even Light didn't know of it's existence.

"-but lets say he could kill someone simply by wishing death upon them, you'd think that any human being would have shown at least some emotion some sighn that they were knowingly committing an act of murder - we have to assume that his phyche has reached God like proportions, punishing evil doers without the slightest change of expression, it almost makes me want to believe that Kira doesn't exist, that this is just the wrath of a vengeful God..but that idea is completely absurd, to think that God would need a name and a face to kill them. No, these arent acts of God, but someone very childish and immature who wants to pretend they're God. That's what's going on here."

Neither of them are pure evil, but they aren't good either. Light may be a super-villain, but he loves humanity as a whole, and is in general a charming, funny guy with some surprisingly reasonable views (along with his crazy shit). L may also be a slightly less evil supervillain, but he has incredibly strict self imposed morals and rules for himself when he goes about his job so that justice will be served the 'right' way. He won't be satisfied otherwise. Also, he does have a level of care for the people around him, contrary to popular belief.

Light Yagami is a child, treated like an adult. He’s seventeen at the beginning of the story, and at most times, he would be considered a young adult, an older teenager. He poses himself like a grown person, but his conceptions of life are naive. His actions are close to juvenile - and it’s perfectly fine for boys his age. Everyone needs their own time to grow.

But because of his intelligence, his actual personality is overlooked by his parents. In the beginning, Light’s boredom is so loud, a God answers. He’s successful - but it doesn’t give him any satisfaction. He’s following a path to his career, but his dedication is hollow. Light portrays a picture perfect student, so nobody would question - is he really okay? What is going on inside his head? How does he feel about world that he lives?

does anyone else think misa kind of got what she deserved in death note? I mean it’s clear she was constantly pestering light, making reckless moves that put both of them at risk. she wasn’t careful with her role as the second kira, and half the time light had to cover for her mistakes just to keep everything from falling apart. even when she wasn’t directly messing with his plans, she was clingy and obsessive in a way that distracted him from his actual goal. it shows over and over that she wasn’t a strategic thinker, more of a liability than an asset, and that’s exactly why she ends up sidelined and discarded. her fate feels less like an unfair tragedy and more like the natural result of how she operated. that’s not to say misa never helped light. she did play a huge role in advancing his plans, like willingly making the shinigami eye deal twice, something light himself was never willing to do. Her devotion gave him access to information he couldn’t have gotten on his own, and she was important  in keeping suspicion off him more than once. without her, a lot of light’s strategies would have been much harder to pull off, maybe even impossible. But the thing is, all of those advantages came at the cost of her impulsiveness and her obsession with Light. every good thing she did was undermined by the fact that she couldn’t think independently or strategically. she wasn’t an equal partner in his “new world,” just a tool he used until she became too much of a risk. so even though she contributed to his success, the flaws in how she operated still made her downfall feel inevitable. I don’t know though.
