something that really makes my brain gears fucking TURN is thinking about LABB. mello. he’s the narrator which we all know, and love but. L told MELLO the story of B. and i wonder; why mello? why not near? who, arguably, was neck and neck with being as smart and as talented as mello just in different aspects of his deduction and investigation skills. was it possibly because L thought mello had the potential to wind up like Beyond Birthday? maybe? and did L tell him as a cautionary tale? or was it simply a story of a terrible person L knew. not sure if it’s elaborated upon in hc or other wise but this thought always makes me think think think

i feel like ive been truly sleeping on the absurdity of beyond birthday as a character. just never quite getting over the insanity of it. oh yeah so you know famous freak L right. yeah well there's a second version. and he's even more famous. and even freakier. id kms trying to pitch an oc like that wdym he looks the same as L but with red eyes. red eyes??? and his name is beyond birthday. is he trying to evolve past that particular celebration. what. "beyond birth--" overpowered mary sue ahh fursona. get out of here.
