She blocks his attack —— the puppet feels her wrist fracture under the pressure and it doesn't matter. It hadn't mattered her first life; she'd been broken far worse than this to earn her life. It hadn't mattered her second life, body breaking and rebuilding under the weight of her mind rewriting identity at Sora's / Roxas' voice. Feeling herself shatter for something she's chosen at least partially for her own selfishness's sake is almost comforting. The raging, berserk thing inside her, covering parts of her like ink and turning her eyes white and empty, devours the feeling like a drowning girl gulps air.
a perfect pawn / and she knows just enough to know that she's looking at a weaker, more pathetic mirror.
"You don't know what I've seen before, Yozora. But I know what you have." She's Yozora for a moment / blinking through white bangs / and she was Yozora first. He's a copy of a copy of a copy. He's nothing. And the monster in his / her / their shared memories is not someone he / she / either of them wish to be caught by, but they both have been caught by him, so there's no point in avoiding it. They've both been caught by the man that shatters limbs and mind to force mismatched parts into human - shaped molds. They've both been the victim of a man who holds you down and rips your ribs apart to reprogram what's inside. They've both been perfectly weaponized. But only one of them was made for it.
Yozora's right : Xion could kill him. He's wrong about everything else. He's wrong because he thinks he won't give Sora back, but he's told her with his memories and his mouth that he'll do anything if he suffers enough, if he's put through enough pain. And he's wrong because he thinks ——
"He's worth that to more people than me. But you're unlucky that it's me and not any of them." She feels herself smiling. She wonders what it looks like past the corruption swallowing her and her grief and her joy.
a perfect pawn / and she knows just enough to know that she'll always be the sharpest of them.
Xion is not evil. She couldn't be, borne of who and what she is. But she is going to do an evil thing to earn a noble one. For one rain - slicked moment, she understands Riku. She wonders if it felt this good for Riku, when he told her it would be selfish not to die. "Because most of them wouldn't shatter every bone in your body to make you useful. But I will."
