Hi, I would like to know if Shannen ended her relationship with her exes in good terms, I know she did with Rick Solomon and Robert Weiss but not Kurt. Which ones did she get on after their break up or remained friends? Thank you!
Hi, this is a very interesting question, and the answer is yes! She got along with many of her exes after their break-up and/or remained friends with many of them until she passed away.
I'll post the ones I know and by chronological order:
Jason Priestley: If we have to believe this photo, they got together the night of August 25, 1991 after the Emmy Awards. He claimed they spent the night together, she said it was only this kiss, but truth to be told, even if they played twins on the small screen, they had a great chemistry.
They were not in touch for some time but they reconnected in the 2020s (maybe before that?) and had a great friendship until she passed away. Both said nothing was left untold when she passed away.
Chris Foufas: Shannen Doherty and real-estate developer from Chicago Chris Foufas (b. 1968) dated from at least fall 1991 to until end of November 1992, being engaged since at least November 1991.
Their engagement was broken around autumn 1991 when she realised she was too young to marry. She said they remained friends and he talked to some press explaining his concern for her when both Holywood and the tabloids started to say she was "difficult", in 1992.
They didn't remain in touch later on, but when she passed away, he praised her saying that she was: “ [a] fantastic woman... very misunderstood. If you know Shannen, you’d understand that comment. She had a bad rep and she was very passionate about the things she did, and that came across to some people in the wrong light. But if you got to know her, she wore her heart on her sleeve, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for close friends. She basically told it how it was. If you don’t like the truth, don’t talk to her.”
Dean Factor: From November 1992 to May 1993 Shannen and the Max Factor heir were in a relationship and engaged to be married.
This relationship, though, was very toxic and she suffered domestic violence although he claimed it was her the one who was being abusive. Still, in this 2001 photo below, he seems to be the man in the background. They were clebrating that Shannen was on the cover of 'Maxim' magazine so they must have talked and forgiven each other, as specially she was so young when they were together (21, 22 years old):
Funny enough, in 2002 he got married... his wife's name is Shannon, has black hair and green eyes, like our Shannen!
Judd Nelson: From April to July 1993, when she was 21, 22, and he was 33, Shannen and Judd had a brief relationship. They were seen together after that, in 1994 and more recently in 2023:
Ashley Hamilton: Ashley was Shannen's first husband, they met in 1993 and got divorced on April 1994. They both were so young and hardly knew each other, he was taking drugs and was being abusive to her.
Still, after their divorce, she rushed to the hospital after he suffered an accident, and in the 2010s and 2020s Shannen and his mum Alana Hamilton Stewart were together and in good terms in an annual event to support cancer research.
When Shannen passed away, he got only good words for her, saying: “Shannen was not only my wife, she was my guardian angel. Even though things don’t always work out the way we hope they will, she stood by my side during some of my darkest times. My love and admiration for her lasted far longer than our short-lived marriage. Watching her battle that horrific disease with such stoicism was inspiring to many, but even more so to me since I am a cancer survivor. The world lost a free-spirited soul and my heart aches for her and for all those who loved her. May she rest in peace.”
Rob Weiss: From 1994 to 2000 Shannen was in a relationship with the film director Rob Weiss. She said she grew up with himand learnt a lot about life, relationships, etc. After their breakup, they remained friends, he was a guest on her podcast and you could hear the admiration and love he still had for her.
After her passing, he said: "I am grateful for all the years we spent together. All the good and all the bad. And I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. A big piece of my heart belongs to you forever Shannen".
Julian McMahon: Around 2000 and 2001 the actors, who appeared together in the "Charmed" TV series and "Another Day" TV film, were in a relationship.
It is not known if they remained friends after the split, but it would seem so as they were spotted together at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival:
And also, when he sadly passed away on July 2025, Holly Marie Combs said, among other things: "... I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals", meaning Shannen.
Rick Salomon: Shannen was dating poker player Rick Salomon at least on January 13, 2002, and they got married in Las Vegas on January 25, 2002. Their marriage lasted just nine months and shortly after it was annulled, around September 2002.
However, after that date, on October 2002 and May 2003, Shannen and Rick were spotted together holding hands, and also both attended together the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
Shannen and Rick remained friends until she passed away, he also appeared on her podcast and she said they were better friends than lovers.
Shannen never got children on her own, but she loved and took care of the children both Julian and Rick had in previous relationships, as if they were her own.
So, as you can see, at least we know she stayed in good terms with many of her exes, a good thing showing their respect and their love beyond a romantic relationship.
