When you have a cold and just need to cuddle your boyfriend
More my hero acadamia fanart
I have a headcanon where at first, bakugou hates that other people in his class sign. It feels condescending, like they're going out of their way to point out that he's different. It takes kouda chewing his ass out in sign in class for him to realise that everyone signing isn't about him, it's for a variety of different reasons.
So I have thought about this quite a bit since I recieved it. Bakugou would absolute think that people were pitying him if they signed to him constantly. But i feel like everyone in the class knowing sign language is... an irrationality? Maybe i am just thinking about it to much but, i am a Deaf person. And the number of my FAMILY who know sign is... well if we don't count my wife, then none of them. .y wife is the only family member i have that knows sign language. None of my siblings. Not my mom. Not my dad before he died. Not my grandparents. And not my bestfriend for the past 20 years. Now i know that sounds crazy but I've known him since before i went Deaf and he still doesnt sign. I have tons of DEAF friends who sign. But the hearing people in my life who sign? Yeah. Precious few. So honestly, who in the class knows sign language?
Obviously Kouda who seems to have some sort of mutism. Wether it is selective or not, I dont know.
Aizawa, because no one will tell me that he isn't married to his Deaf husband Present Mic and I know that love of a spouse often trumps love of the blood. (That sounds weird) so he knows.
Midoriya might know it simply because he is an intelligent and curious young man but he knows better than to use it with Bakugou. He already tried. But he is there knowledgeable and ready to save everyone hearing or Deaf and to support when Bakugou is ready to accept and move out of the greif stages of losing his hearing.
Outside of them? I really don't think that anyone else would know. Mayne Mic tries to teach them all some sign at the end of every english class. Useful for missions after all. But they probably don't truly see the reason. They are kids and bonds of friendships do not always extend the same way that bonds of love do.
Which leads to Bakugou's partner. Now I tend to stay out of the shipping stuff though a lot of Deaf bakugou fanart is Kiribaku so I am partial to them. But if that partner wants to have a chance they are going to learn sign language. Mayne the whole Bakusquad puts some effort into it and knows the basics but likely only his lover would be fluent. Maybe even more fluent than Bakugou who is extraordinarily talented and smart but his self hatred blocks his ability to learn.
Of course this is just my headcanon and I tend to base things more on my realistic experiences. But everyone else is free to support any headcanons they want and truly the idea of Kouda chewing out Bakugou is hilarious. I do very much enjoy reading these thank you for telling me.
headcanon on what they call each other in sign language
(i’m in no way fluent in this language so if i butchered it by changing the signs a bit i’m sorry,,)
