Deaf/HoH Hizashi teaching sign language to an Eri who occasionally goes nonverbal due to her trauma
Imagine an au where Present Mic is hiding the fact that he’s gone deaf from the world supported by his husband in keeping this secret.
Now imagine that Eraserhead is attacked by a villain who takes his sight.
What can they do when one is deaf and the other is blind?
Both can speak but what words can you say when you can’t receive the reply?
“I’m sorry.”
“I love you.”
headcanon on what they call each other in sign language
(i’m in no way fluent in this language so if i butchered it by changing the signs a bit i’m sorry,,)
Lots of people headcanon present mic (sorry I forgot his real name) as deaf because of his quirk what sort of accommodations do you think u.a. Would make for him? Or a deaf or hard of hearing student? How do you think hero work would you know work for them? (Sorry in advance if anybody is offended by these questions I’m genuinely just curious and have a bad gauge of how offensive somethings can be (like wording or certain words for certain groups)
I’m very familiar with deaf!Mic as I am quite fond of this headcanon myself.
So I do believe that Mic has hearing aids which certainly helps him at school, with his hero work, and with his radio show. He’s definitely fluent in sign language, and I think several of the other teachers are as well, particularly those like Aizawa and Nemuri who’ve known him since they were in school themselves, as well as Nedzu (who, while he knows it, probably faces some limitations signing anything that requires specific finger movement). I can see U.A. offering sign language classes. Not only would it be useful for interacting with deaf/hoh heroes and citizens, but can also be useful for communication during stealth missions.
You can bet that Mic does volunteer work for hoh kids, and he’s such a role model for them! I think there are things a deaf student would have to overcome (disadvantages in fighting, communicating with allies/public), but with the incredible technology the heroes have access to, I’m sure there’s many ways they could accommodate deaf, mute, blind, amputated, etc.
Sorry I don’t have much to offer on this. I’m no expert on the deaf/hoh community, so if anyone has any ideas to add to this, I’d loved to read them!

Silence
Having three jobs meant you were almost always tired, be it from simply needing more sleep or from an emotional sucker punch that leaves you feeling empty, and numb, and oh so tired.
Even though his quirk was Voice, sometimes, sometimes he needed quiet. With no students, no villains, no studios and no noise.
Sometimes he needed to be alone with his thoughts, when his mind would go into hyperdrive over the smallest things, when his emotions would get the better of him and he just needed to cry, to scream, to fall apart so he or Shouta could pull himself back together afterwards.
Every now and then he craved, needed silence, when the migraines finally caught up to him after hours of energy drinks, coffee and minimal sleep.
And when that happened, he needed to hole himself up in his and Shouta's apartment, with all the cutains drawn and lights off, curled up in blankets and pillows, and take his hearing aides out. To just rest in the silence and let his emotions wash over him and cry it out. To later accept some water and a couple pills from Shouta's outstretched hand and curl into his side to just exist and pull himself back together for the next day.
Sometimes he just needed silence.
Hizashi probably really has his shit together
