Across the street from the DeLand City Hall lays the the Putnam Hotel of Deland, Florida. In 1921, the DeLand cost $433,000 to build and has 112 rooms. During it’s time in business, it went through numerous ownership changes and most recently fell into the hands of Jayne Rocco, who tried to improve it - but failed. It closed in 2011 and has sat vacant since then. Just a few weeks ago, a suspicious fire broke out in the upstairs of the building - which resulted some locals suggesting that it may be time to tear it down. Currently, the future of the DeLand is unknown.
