Here’s that big project I’ve been working on!
All of her structural damage has been dealt with to some degree or another. She does need a little more work before she’s complete, though.
In addition to a mangled mouth, she had a lot of body damage and stains. Most of the body damage is gone, or gone enough, now. The stains remain.
❤ Sweet Things ❤
Here’s a sweet photo of Maoriko with Amelie, from our late holiday meet a few weeks ago! February is going to be a busy month for me, but I’ve got a few uploads scheduled! I hope you enjoy them when they go live~ ❤

And here she is, feeling much better!
You can see here that not only can I not control a paintbrush, but the area around her mouth is still a bit rough. Sanding vinyl is difficult. Resin is much easier. Some of the damage was ignored (like the cut on her lower lip) and some was turned into beauty marks.
She still has stains on her hips, thighs, and fingertips. I didn’t even try to remove them.
She also has two right arms. I may or may not try to find a replacement. And one arm keeps falling out. It had been hot glued in place by the previous owner and that wasn’t fun to undo.
Still.
Much better.
The inside of her head was also ah... interesting....
There was a TON of eye putty in there in both WS and NS, plus lots and lots of hot glue.
I think the person that had her didn’t know how to use eye putty, got desperate, and whipped out the glue gun.
There was also a large bit of soft foam stuck to the inside of her mouth, which I pulled out as well as I could. There’s still a little in there.
Her earrings were wires roughly shoved through her ears and attached to what looks like broken off parts of people-earrings.
After a lot of cleaning and scrubbing and a boiling, she looked like this.
A mess.
I later discovered, after a lot more cleaning, that the head is NS and the body SWS. Ugh.
I started working on her face, doing everything by hand with 400 and 600 grit sand paper and rotary tool nibs until I got tired of that and got out the Dremel MiniMite. It’s barely visible, but I did cause even more damage while doing this, causing scratches on her nose and cheek that I then had to remove again.
I’m not experienced with modding vinyl any more than her previous owner.
Sanding vinyl is not fun. It’s very, very slow. Very slow. I would have been done with her in a matter of hours had she been resin. It took a few days instead.
After grinding and grinding and grinding and sanding and acetone wiping, and grinding some more, little bit by little bit, I decided to take a shortcut and do an experiment at the same time.
Getting her lips perfectly smooth wasn’t going to happen, so I applied some UV resin and baked it on. It’s working well so far, and it is self-leveling, so it settled into the grooves and holes caused by the previous owner’s attempts at modding, leaving a smooth surface.
Some people interpreted that as her lip paint, but it was her actual lips.
I was thinking maybe I would go more in-depth on the repairs to Groddy here. My posts on main have been pretty random and scrambled.
Anyone that’s seen those posts, there won’t be any new photos really.
We’ll start at the top and work our way down, I suppose. Though I may have to cut up posts because:
Get ready for a million photos.
This doll was on Mandarake, listed as junk along with many, many similarly mangled sisters and loose doll parts. It seems whomever owned them gave them all up at once.
She was also listed as an Excellen Browning Dollfie Dream Sister, but is not. I think she’s a DDH-07 on a hodge podge of random parts. It’s hard to tell with all of the damage.
Unfortunately, some really scary labial mods are what really drew our attention to these, but this is the head and face post.
Or one of them, anyway. A lot happened, we’re probably going to need more than one post.
Mandarake’s sales photo person does a good job capturing damage and issues with a doll. The unskilled faceup isn’t a problem (other than the fact the eyebrows stained), but there were equally unskilled mods.
And a lot of dirt.
And lumpy, gross-looking sealant. She looked gross, and I started calling her Gross DDS, which evolved into GroDDS, and then Groddy.
The pics (all of the previous photos were taken and posted by Mandarake store for her sales listing) were a little blurry, though, and it was hard to tell the true condition of her face until I got her in person.
And started wiping with acetone.
Her lips had been cut apart then glued back together, and there were lots and lots of holes.
I likened the right corner of her mouth to spaghetti. It was unusual to be certain.
