Hello everyone! This is the second author check-in for DCU Bang 2019! This check-in is mandatory for authors. Missing two check-ins in a row will cause you to be dropped from DCU Bang 2019 automatically, so make sure to fill out the Google Form, it should only take a minute or two of your time.

This check-in is for author’s only, so artists, sit tight! The survey is to track story progress, but don’t stress out! Even if you haven’t started yet, please still fill the survey out. This really helps me further on, when story claiming begins, just so I have an idea of where everyone is at and what to expect!

The most important thing when filling out the survey is make sure you use the same email as was used in your sign-up, so that I can check you off! If you do not remember which email you used to sign-up, a copy of the Google Survey should have been sent to you when you signed up. If you still cannot find it, please contact me and I will check on my end!

Story Claiming and Rough Drafts:

Rough drafts will be accepted between Saturday, June 22nd and Wednesday, June 26th. The minimum word counts that will be accepted are 3k for the Mini-bang and 6k for the Big Bang. For more information on what will be expected for the rough drafts, here is the 1st check-in post that has all that info.

There is a change in how stories will be claimed by artists this year. In past years, artists would claim stories on an LJ or DW post and everything would be visible for authors and artists. This year. I am going to use a Google Form for artists to fill out with their story claim choices, and only the mods will be able to see the claim choices.

I am hoping this helps with the anxiety authors usually feel watching stories get snatched up by artists. This will also allow artists to bid on the stories they want, rather than needing to sift through comments to see if their choices are already taken. Using a Google Form also keeps things much more organized for the mods, too!

Results with current claims will be posted after 6 hours, or after all of the stories are claimed, whichever comes first. If there are still stories needing to be claimed after 6 hours, an announcement with currently claimed stories will go out, along with whatever stories still need to be claimed. When all stories have been claimed, second artist claims will open, on Sunday, June 30th, 3PM MDT at the earliest!

It is very important to only claim stories you would absolutely be happy with creating artwork for! I will always do my absolute best to match artists with their first choices, but this may not be possible, especially since artists will not be able to check if their choices have already been claimed. Artists will need to select at least 3 stories, and up to 5 on the form, before it can be submitted.

Jason and Dick are brothers, the sons of a lord, and coming back from their first successful raid together. A storm forces them to take shelter in a village on the way, and when Jason takes his armor to the local blacksmith to get it fixed up, it turns out that Jason has more problems than just worrying about accidentally offending the local lord. Like, say managing more than two or three words around the all too attractive 'Roy.'

"So you're going to behave while we're here, right?" Dick asks as he comes up beside him, the mast at their back and the deck swaying lightly beneath their feet with each roll of movement in the waters below.

The ship rides low with the gathered treasure and supplies from their raid, but they've made decent time anyway. Not good enough to get them home, but enough to get them far enough away from the ransacked victims and to a village controlled by one of their allies. Their father's allies, really. They should be able to find safe harbor here for a day or two, while their companions rest and heal enough that they can all make the journey home. Assuming that no one offends their hosts.

Jason rolls his eyes with a scoff, arms crossed over his chest as he leans back into the wood of the mast. "I know how to act, Dick. We represent Bruce as his sons, I get it; I'm not going to do anything stupid."

A Cinderella Story

Finally, I can show you the Art for @behindtherobinsmask and their amazing Entry to the @dcubang . Being part of this event was such a blast! I got to work with two amazing writers and I couldn’t be happier! (the second story will be revealed later this month)

This lovely scene is part of chapter 9. Go and check out the Story! It’s based on fairytales! Who doesn’t love fairytales?
