Are sp$ a big denomination (a la Bitcoin on 4/11/2019 being US$5047.87), or is Team Star Fox literally willing to kill people for the equivalent of US$64 per hit. (Shooting down a Wolfen II on Venom is 50 hits so sp$3200) considering the costs involved in traversing a solar system, maintaining 6+ combat vehicles, and splitting the pay 4 ways, the cost of life here is very low for a group portrayed as white knights.
This is so galaxy brain, tbh and I hadn’t thought much about it. I sort of figured that Lylatian cash has a different value from USA cash, so while the value seems really low to us, it’s really not that bad to Lylatians?
I think it’s pretty telling that even after saving the Lylat System from Andross, only like 7-8 years later, the team is pretty worn down financially and the Great Fox is in shambles. One would think that the Cornerians would give them enough to get by comfortably after what the team did for them, but I guess General Pepper wasn’t feeling terribly charitable.
Part of me wants to think maybe the Cornerians would also give the team like??? Certain benefits at least??? But it also wouldn’t surprise me if General Pepper was too proud to admit his army was entirely useless in the shadow of the SF team and had some bitter resentments about it. While the General seems to have a pretty good relationship with the team, I think it’s pretty noteworthy that he’s constantly calling on them to help.
Maybe he just thinks they’re cheap help?

My old kenku fighter: Ssh! He used to live in a library so most of his mimic speech is hushed voices and asking people to be quiet. Since he has so little to go off of, he often responds with a frustrated "CAW" when asked a question with a word he doesn't know how to say. His adopted Triton rogue brother (played by @dreiicee) left to go do pirate adventures and he followed a few years after to go find new books for the library, kicking ass as needed along the way as an Eldritch Knight.
