She pulled her slightly but only gave her a vague look. She was pressing her hands to her left side, everything was covered in blood that was soaking her clothes.

“Lin… I can’t…” Kya said, twisting her face.

“Yes you can! Hold on!”

She carried her bridal style, trying not to get shot.

“Lin… left me alone…”

Lin immediately became red with anger.

“No, I can’t! Kya, talk to me!”

Kya smiled faintly, Lin noticed her skin becoming pale, her body becoming limp, her eyes closing.

“Remember the last time you’ve carried me that way?”

Kya winced from pain but tried to hide it. She knew she wouldn’t make it but Lin didn’t, she still had the hope. Kya took a shaking breath.

“I twisted my ankle while playing with Ikki.”

Lin lips were trembling but she tried to stay calm. She remembered that sunny day, Ikki came to her saying that aunt Kya broke her leg. When she found her she was gritting her teeth but smiling in front of the kids. Lin noticed that.

“Yes, I remember that.”

Lin took a few more steps and picked up that it’s a dead end.

“Oh, no, no…”

She looked around to see some of the attackers. She stamped one’s foot trying to make a wall but she was too slow. The explosion threw them out. She groaned when she felt on the ground. Kya was on the other side.

She instantly jumped to a lying waterbender and began to fight back. But they were too strong, she threw her cables at them, she was fighting until there were only two of them. One of them bended a giant stone that nearly smashed her. She was ready to strike back when she felt excruciating pain on her left side. She screamed and fell on the ground, she refused to take a look at the burnt area. Instead she tried to reach Kya.

She took her hand, moaning with pain.

“Kya,” her voice was hoarse.

Kya didn’t answer her. She nearly gave her any sign of life. All she did was a flicker of her hand. Lin felt that and closed her eyes.
