After an amazing night at Spooky Spectacular yesterday, today is full of gifts! My two new decks have arrived and despite being a day later than I wanted, I’m in love with them already!

The Oracle of Oddities with its merging of life and death is both simple to absorb and breathtakingly beautiful. I’m sure I’ll share an interview spread soon!

The Postcards from the Liminal Space deck was a splurge from the same store but oh my goodness. The instant connection and excitement I have for this deck! It gives me the playful yet deeply relevant sort of vibes that my Fantod Pack has. I absolutely cannot wait to do more with this one!

Also, an adoring shoutout to the fantastic @intuitionandlore for my newest bauble. When her Practical Magic piece launched it took so much willpower to not snatch one immediately but I just couldn’t justify it with my wedding that happened around the same time. Practical Magic, in book and movie form, influenced so much of the hearth style craft I practice alongside my death work. 


Today we examine Judgement! The twentieth card of the Major Arcana, it’s followed only by The World. Which of these decks has your favorite representation?

Judgement has a lot of ties to Abrahamic interpretations of the Archangel Gabriel and end of times but I put that to the side. It isn’t an ending card like Death, despite its placement in the order of the Majors. Judgement speaks of a calling; a true purpose; your souls’ need. Unlike Justice, it deals more in what marries your intuition and heart rather than a logical sort of desire or purpose.

Judgement asks what would you do if you didn’t have to worry about paying bills? It encourages that you visit that desire in some way. Even if you can’t make a career out of it; can you involve it in a hobby? Volunteering? Researching? Reading about it? Anything to keep that inner candle lit and warming your soul.

Interview spreads were mixed- the Postcards From the Liminal Space was optimistic in talking about knowing my own inner power and wanting to cultivate a rewarding relationship as diviner and deck.

The Death card. Lucky number 13 in the Major Arcana. Which of my decks’ version is your favorite?

Death has a twisted portrayal in the media and because of that, sometimes unwarranted scared associations. Much like our society’s feelings on the process of loss and grief, we don’t acknowledge or embrace it as often as is healthy.

The Death card is a transitional card. It rarely means literal death- though it can if coupled with certain signifiers. It is the garden after a long winter; yes there is withered decay but it makes way for and feeds the new growth. When or if read reversed it often speaks of a stubborn inability to let go. Be more like Elsa when reversed Death pokes up.

Happy 1st of Halloween! Time to start my traditional horror movie a day watching!

Not sure whether to start with one of these familiar precious gems or search out a brand new one on a streaming service.

I believe there is no time or place I’m more content than when I’m in your arms. I know my favorite time of day is when you get home from work. I believe that our lengthy scrolling through Netflix or Amazon Prime only makes us stronger.

I promise to choose you every day, to love you in word and deed, to do the hard work of making now into always. To be your kin and your partner in all of life’s adventures. To stand by your side and sleep in your arms; knowing that we do not complete, but complement each other.

May we have many adventures and grow old together.”
