#tbt When We Do by Junie (@juniefunk), 1975. One of my true favorites. Aside from being apart of classic songs with Ohio Players (like "Funky Worm") and Parliament/Funkadelic (like "Knee Deep") Junie has some classic solo LPs. This is the debut solo album. And with the exception of the orchestral parts, all Junie on the instruments. Wrote all the songs. Genius. Prince's death has made me think more about his work but also work that I guess he would've been aware of (Prince's debut came out in 1977; Ohio Players first hit was "Pain" in 1971). At any rate, Junie is a legend. His fingerprint is all over a ton of music you probably like. Also: out of Dayton, Ohio...a super funky place when it comes to musical lineage. Do the googles!
