Rinalys sees that as being highly unlikely of a thing to happen, yet not something she can completely rule out as being a thing in the future. Just that...no one’s actually come close to being a prospect in that realm and she doesn’t exactly feel like she’s an ideal candidate for such a thing. 

To her, she’s far too damaged and a wandering soul for anyone to possibly want to pin down, least without losing some of what makes her...her.

It’s a romantic concept, one that Rinalys is secretly a fan of, yet she’d never be the one to mention such an idea openly. That and she hasn’t the slightest idea how someone would be able to figure that kind of thing out. Maybe when she can read more of those books Honore has passed onto her will it make more sense.

Every day I pray that the next man I meet will see something in my eyes, that he will recognize the horror that lives in the cold, hard pit of me, reflected in some split-second microexpression on my face. But my truth is such a difficult point to get across these days, isn’t it? It feels as though it’s been a full turn of the sun since I could do anything but twitch my fingers of my own accord.

I pray that the next man will see me for what I am, a prisoner in my own body, and that he will show me a mercy that never comes. I always hope, but they never see anything aside from what they want to see: me as some pretty young thing, helpless, looking to them to protect me and my most precious cargo.

The truth, the cold truth, is that if I had control over myself for a mere five seconds–five fat, pregnant seconds–I would run myself through on the nearest pike. But I can’t do that, so it’s up to you.

Please. Someone–anyone–please put me down. It will be a mercy.

There are no real academic subjects that fit this bill so it would come down to hobbies or work related things. One of the biggest ones though might well be in the realm of gardening, as it’s a rare thing that has actually caught her interest as a thing to pursue just for the sake of. No profit, no real benefits to it other than her own enjoyment. So she easily talks at least Honore’s ear off about it from time to time. Trading stories and getting advice. 

Though there’s also always swapping stories of past experiences in work. Rinalys has her fair few of those both recent and less. Even if she doesn’t tell all.

For a moment, the question brings Makoto up short. He turns halfway toward the nosy querent, until they’re only just at the periphery of his vision. Side-eyed, with his cheekbones high and sharp but his voice low and soft. “I say what I feel when it comes to me.”

Makoto leans back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest. His feet splay wide in a display of simple, brainless petulance. “What kind of question is that? I don’t hide shit from anyone.” A beat of silence as he stares off over the bar, away from everyone around him. “I talk too much already, right? Ask anybody. I talk too fucking much.” Fingers tap a beat on his elbow, restless. “I say enough. He knows.”
