I’d call Elliot vain, perceptive, n loving. It’s not a mistake that his first impression of Nol, other than attraction n curiosity, was “oh. i can fix u.” and that it changed to “shit, we gotta help ourselves bc we can’t fix anything.”

Those three traits come into play there: he comes to love Nol, but first he sees the poor guy as a type of project. Elliot’s conceptions were rarely challenged before that point, so his self-righteous vanity told him, more or less, that if he could transform this down-n-out zealot into an echo chamber, he could prove that he’s Right. War is stupid, built atop the disenfranchised, and immortalized by people Not Like Him. He’s not entirely wrong, but he’s going about it in the wrong way and with a ton of fallacies n biases.

Elliot does becomes aware of this n it eats him up since he learns that he wants smth different from his relationship w Nol and the world. He cuts out the savior complex but it keeps following him, he begins to stop judging or blaming ppl for their circumstances (dont enlist, do smth else, rahrah), and he starts getting more confrontational with debates abt toxic pro-war culture. 

This development isn’t all conscious though, and his involvement with the war machine at large changes how he’s forced to see things. His focus narrows from the greater good to abt four people, he associates himself more with the “victim of/hurt by” war trope, and he wants out of it all asap.

I wouldn’t trust an unmarked CD from anyone who was involved with the creation of Homestuck, tbh

That’s fair, I’d be much more worried that The Baby Is You era Toby would give me a disk with a some glitchy screech music to blow out my eardrums and/or a trojan on it
