Day #3625 Mazzy Star - Star While Hope Sandoval has a voice that is like sliding into a perfectly warm bath, David Roback was the guy who perfectly accompanied and complimented her voice. It was a truly magical and unparalleled sound. I can’t think of many other musicians that created such a unique, specific, haunting, sound that even rivals his music. This is a very sad loss. Very very sad. If you want a great example (also a great example of great songs that go missing because of gaps in steaming music) find a song called Hair & Skin. It was a B-side to flowers in December. So good. “Among my Swan • Mazzy Star” Mazzy Star has long been a favorite, however this is the one I probably listen to the least. It’s one where I gotta be in the right mood. Well today it was nice and cloudy and cold, and it hit just right, and when it hits, it hits ya hard. This is also one of those records I searched to the end of the earth to find — OG US Press on Capitol Records, if it ain’t on that or Rough Trade, it’s just a “plain” ripoff.
