The boy shook his head. He knew he shouldn't be pushing people around, especially not adults. He had to be polite to adults and mind his matters. A good boy was a boy you didn't know was there his father once told him.

Speaking of his father, his dad would be very mad if he knew what David was doing. Even being out here and talking to others was a risk. So why was he doing any of this?

David held his arm and whimpered. Maybe his father would have loved him more if he was a real child. Daddy didn't like androids. But why did he get one then if he didn't want him? He even went out of his way to special order him to look like what a real child between him and his wife could possibly look like. 

The boy shrugged. That was part of it. It was good to be wary of strangers but his main concern wasn't that he didn't know this man. His main worry was that Simon was an android... but... wasn't this boy also an android?

"It's not that me or my daddy don't know you... I can't talk to you because you're one of them." One of what? "You're part of Jericho. Daddy doesn't want you to corrupt me." Oh.

Personality:

A typically more serious of a child that tends to focus on his studies and obeys his parents above all else. A polite boy, he  has been raised to strictly mind his manners and instructors.

He is also rather curious and a bit of a bookworm always wanting to learn more, but his quiet nature usually keeps him from asking too many questions. His brain is full of random and obscure facts as well as the odd and weird as he has taken a liking in the interesting and bizarre.

He loves his parents despite the secrets and controlling rules they hold over him. The boy looks up fondly to his father praising and thanking him for things he does not only for him but also for his hard work and achievement at work. Neither of his parents could do no wrong even knowing they only adopted him to have the perfect child and are almost ashamed of his true identity.

Like most children he likes to run, play and pretend. He enjoys climbing on and jumping off of things over most other actives, as these can be done on his own rather than requiring a friend (As he is often alone as he plays).

He wishes he could do dirt bike racing like his classmate, Mayson, and is saddened that he isn't allowed to take up sports, especially a more dangerous one like racing. When not running around by himself or with friends, he will happily pick up a book and remained entertained for hours.

Background:

The young son of Richard Perkins and his wife Kimberly, David was born as 'David Theodore' in April of 2029, nine years prior to the android revolution, and then was adopted by the Perkins' family as a young child...

At least... that is the story the family tells people. In reality, David is a YK model android-built specialty for the Perkins', meeting Kimberly's design requests for the 'perfect son.

Kimberly had always wanted children, however, she was unable to conceive. After years of trying for one of their own and not wanting to go through the hoops of attempting adoption, the couple turned to artificial life to give them, particularly Kimberly, the joys of raising a child of their own.

The household and some of those closest to them know the truth that the family's child is an android, but others don't know he isn't human and the Perkins' aim is to keep it that way.

It a hard secret to keep with family, friends, and school and the unchanging nature of an android that will never grow up. To help this David's connections and interactions are often kept limited where the family can help it.

By limiting extracurricular activities and social interactions with other children they 'help' hide his true nature. They even considered homeschooling him at one point, and it's not fully off the table, but due to both Kimberly and Richard having busy careers they decided to send him to school for the time being.
