So, last episode of Good Trouble really hit all the feels. Constance Zimmer directed wonderfully but the writing itself of the episode was just remarkable. It felt actually a lot like The Fosters, everyone was just the best version of themselves.
That particular moment of Callie, when she listens to Dennis’ truth, got me emotionally, because of course everyone was moved and heartbroken for him, but when I saw Callie, I realized she knows too well that pain, she knows how it feels to lose someone who is a part of you and it leaves empty. Despite loving how Callie put her past behind her back, I don’t hide I would like to see a moment like this for her. I think The Coterie doesn’t really KNOW Callie, she’s only been that honest with Gael (reason why I hope their relationship will last now), and maybe her story would put a lot of her personality in perspective, so they will know why she isn’t “Elsa”, as they called her in Season 2.
I also HOPE this new Mariana will last too because when she’s like that I can clearly see her mothers’ daughter! Mariana is capable of the greatest humanity, she can be so compassionate and so smart, she just loses herself in her bad habits sometimes. But seeing how she forgave Isabella (I still don’t trust her totally), putting herself in her shoes, it was a symptom of such growth, I loved it!
The Coterie is really a safe haven, for everyone, moving over from judgement, expectations, mistakes. This show is what the world needs right now, what the world has always needed.
I loved that episode. It really reminded me why I started watching this show lol.Â
I really like Callie’s new boss and her co-workers. I love how her boss showed her how to manipulate a judge into giving her what she wants. Really good stuff.
I love how they are using Mariana to show the social media side of things. Like it’s impossible to kill every hate account and I loved how they had her go talk to Evan about it. It was the responsible thing to do and she continues to grow as a character. I also kinda liked Evan’s response, yes there is a clear right and wrong but he is isn’t wrong about his company and his employees suffering if things go downhill. I also understand Evan owning the app, companies don’t want you using their resources to create a startup. It makes sense. Startups, especially tech startups are usually created in school or after someone quits for a reason. And I kinda liked Mariana quitting, that was a powerful moment. And it lets her get to a place where she can do something her way if she wants. Even though we did the quitting plot with Callie and the Judge, I think it will be better with Mariana,
Malika’s non-romance plot is the most interesting part of the season. I love her and Isaac and I’m not ready for a new man to just come in and ruin all that. I am fully invested in her and the shitty DA. I like how they made it so Judge Wilson dropped the charges, and the DA wanted to charge her anyway. It made for a more interesting dynamic.
Alice is cute and funny but her story is probably the most unrealistic. The set would have to go viral and Alice would have needed to have a following for her to even be considered. Like girl ditched an audition, it can’t be that easy. But whatever I’m glad we are getting a happier arc for her even if it means Lindsey is sticking around. Honestly they are really manipulative and not in a good way.
I really like Davia’s story too. The system is broken but without well meaning people inside trying to fix it, the powerful will continue to abuse it. She is a teacher first, her students need to be her priority. The question isn’t should she help it is what is the best way to help and I really like that. Davia is in a really difficult position and I’m glad they aren’t making the issue as black and white as they did with literally everything last season.
I really want Gael and Davia to stay friends.

I made a semi-chronological video of Dennis and Davia from Good Trouble to one of my favourite songs Trip Lovers by The Pierce Brothers. I can’t wait for season 3!Â
I’m so glad Dennis is gradually letting people into his life, and although I want him to be with Davia I’m okay if it takes more time.
Like the people in his therapy group said, it’s important to take time to heal before getting into a relationship, especially to truly recognize that he doesn’t just need Davia but that he wants to be with her.
