Round one—Goonies

Today’s Asian character is Richard “Data” Wang from The Goonies!

He is Chinese-American.

Data from Goonies, again, from my sister!  I know it’s past Halloween but these are still great

BONUS:

brand finally gets his license and all of the goonies convince him that they should go on a road trip ( stef also has her license so she offers to switch driving with him whenever he gets tired )

they settle on going to derry, maine because a family member of one of the goonies has a summer home there but they never use it because they say that the town creeps them out, so they give the goonies full permission to stay there.

established couples within the goonies are andy x brand and stef x mouth (fite me)

established couples in the losers club are benverly and stozier ( technically stozier aren’t dating but they might as well be )

the goonies and the losers club meet almost as soon as the goonies arrive in town. they happen to cross paths and stef immediately grins at bev - “i love your hair!” 

bev grins back and the groups stop because the girls obviously start up a conversation (brand is slightly offended because andy pulls away from him to join the conversation)

“do we have to wait for bev, we don’t even know these people!” richie whines and gets hit by both bev and stan in response

“girls, am i right?” this comes from mouth who gets hit by stef and mikey in response.

anyway all the guys end up talking and eventually bill and eddie invite all of them to come to the quarry with them and they all agree because really there’s probably nothing else to do in this town and it’s not like they get the chance to make new friends very often

they get to the cliff where they’re supposed to jump off and chunk is like “oh this is like the pirate ship!” and so obviously they have to stop and explain what happened and the losers are secretly like ‘that was their exciting growing up adventure what the fuck how did they get so lucky’

its gets to the point where the groups start spending a lot of time together, whenever they have the chance which is basically all of the time because it’s summer

mikey and eddie really hit it off? like one day mikey is struggling to breathe and he can’t find his aspirator and eddie just pulls one out for him? he promises that he doesn’t use it anymore so it’s clean and mikey is very grateful

but tbh mikey and bill end up having crushes and andy notices this and one day when the two of them are talking she casually mentions that ‘mikey is a really good kisser’ winkwink

mouth is an asshole so one day around ben he’s like “i bet you’d be great at the truffle shuffle” and stef immediately claps a hand over his mouth. “remember what we said about being an asshole?” 

chunk tells ben to just ignore him and they’re completely different people but they can bond a bit over being bullied for their weight

literally the groups make an effort to not have mouth and richie in the same room because it is utter havoc and the one time they were together, stan almost broke up with richie for being extra assholeish 

okAY BUT DATA AND MIKE

listen i was thinking about this while watching the goonies and data gets upset because people never seem to actually appreciate his inventions????

but one day he uses one and again all of the goonies seem to blow it off but mike is like ????? that’s so cool !!!!!!!

they just click because mike is a really good listener and supports data when he mentions new inventions

he even asks if data could create some things for the farm before he has to leave

also they’re both v brave boys okay and they’d protect their friends with their entire being im just saying.

they end up dating and are pretty much couple goals come at me, they hold hands a lot and are really supportive of each other and it’s quality shit *heart eyes*

the summer comes to an end and they’re all really reluctant to go their separate ways especially data and mike & mikey and bill. they all promise to keep in touch and say that they’ll try to visit as soon as possible

because i’m a sucker for happy endings i have to say that once they graduate from high school data moves to derry to be with mike and bill goes to oregon to be with mikey

BONUS

on their drive home from derry they stop in a small town of hawkins, indiana.
