@darkencdcosmos murmured: "Come to the surface, and quickly. Kal both needs you and has something to show you." Ariadne appears to in a flickering image with a rainbow haze. Iris was a dear and sent this message urgently. Ariadne had sent it as she had sensed Kal's growing irritation with these retreat goers had been enough that he had asked Ariadne to come and help him carve through and help him identify how to help. But Ariadne had seen the problem and instead stepped back, shielding herself instead. The problem was that these people, these supposed worshippers of his, were taking this god's kindness for granted. They were disrespecting an immortal being they now knew was immortal. They mistook kindness and empathy and patience for weakness and their selfishness took over. This was not something for Ariadne to fix, Kal needed to exert some divine retribution. He was a god! She just wanted Alecto there either to help him with it or help in the aftermath, he was a very empathetic soul.
By now, Kal was just pacing amongst a sea of corpses with assorted and very colourful fungi growing out of their heads and bodies. A few still contorting and wailing in complete sensory overwhelm and colour as spores swirled in the air, creating wonderful patterns. Now all were gone, and he still had so much bottled up anger to disperse. He needed his love. (For Alecto)
alecto is surprised by the messages urgency, to say the least. while she has a break, she hasn't exactly asked for permission to leave her post, much less the underworld as a whole. she's not exactly looking forward to the bureaucratic yap fest that ultimately strips her few privileges even further for a temporary time.
but then ari mentions kal, and alecto ceases to care about the king of the underworld or his needs. her sisters are lucky enough that their loves are in the underworld permanently, or at least frequent visitors. they would leave their posts for an emergency. and for kal to need her, for ari to tell her that he does, both incentivizes her to hurry along as well as prevents her from giving a single fuck otherwise. in a moment's notice, she's stepping through a hastily torn entrance, following her concern about kal.
she'd already nearly lost him once. she doesn't want to even think about losing him again.
her first thought upon arriving in this mountain framed valley is how peaceful it is. her armor shines in the sunlight, making her wince, a fang bared in irritation. she hears nothing, at first. feels nothing other than the cold spring sunlight against her skin.
then comes the anger, a sensation she's intimately familiar with and yet not seen like this before. it spreads, mycellium-like, hyphae made of vibrant anger anchored in a million little points throughout the valley. it has a central nexus, and that is where she goes in a twist of teleportation magic.
arriving here, at the edge of a heavily wooded clearing, alecto finds herself overwhelmed with colors. the muffled sounds of agony do little to her as she takes in the network of anger laced across the ground here. it shifts and shambles, half aborted movements from an already rotting corpse. spores float through the air, encouraging her to breathe them in.
but she is mistress of anger, tormentor of passions. she wields this as no other can. with a wave of her wing, she sends them spinning away from her, clearing a path as she stalks through the wreckage to the center.
she wonders what she appears as, in this haze of power. is her circlet something different, divine silver and white? her serpent belt alive, even though mania is currently dormant? are her wings feathered, as an avenging angel ought to be?
these types of thoughts are not originating from her, and she wonders if, perhaps, she's sensing a bit of what kal is seeing. she's not worried about it.
she comes to a stop a few feet away from kal, dark eyes surveying the colorful anguish spilled out across the land. death and destruction wrought by her kal. how beautiful the sight.
and in the center, the mastermind paces. she tilts her head, studying his form, the anger still built up in the center. focusing, she reaches out and takes hold of it, fanning it brighter and hotter, just to see what happens. this type of anger needs to be purified, purged from him. it can't remain; it would fester and rot.
she says nothing, yet. merely lets him know she is here by goading his anger hotter.
