thería's  sweetness  makes  erze's  heart  warm  despite  the  chill  inherent  to  her  body.  with  the  return  of  her  mother  and  much  needed  maintenance,  her  body  no  longer  falling  apart,  erze  feels  stronger,  much  more  capable  of  protecting  her  thería.  that,  and  touch  is  much  clearer  now,  no  longer  muddled  with  deceased  nerve  endings  and  dead  skin.  every  brush  of  their  bodies  is  enough  to  make  her  sluggish  heart  startle,  in  the  best  way  possible. 

she  nuzzles  against  thería's  hair,  wrapping  her  coils  around  her.  then  she  pulls  back,  reaching  into  her  bag  and  pulling  out  a  unique  piece  of  costume  jewelry  she'd  stolen  from  a  thrift  store.  it  was  made  entirely  of  (  fake  )  silver  spirals,  a  hypnotic  design  that  reminded  erze  of  her  own  power,  of  the  way  thería  responded  so  well  to  it.  whether  she  kept  it  as  a  necklace  or  broke  it  down  to  make  charms  or  earrings,  erze  didn't  care;  but  she  saw  it  and  wanted  her  thería  to  have  it. 

"Here  she  is."  Hekate  says,  feeding  the  little  one  her  bottle  as  she  slowly  walks  over  to  sit  by  her  friend  and  show  her.  "Little  Elexia."

She  had  not  seen  Nyx  in  years  and  so  she  was  overjoyed  to  show  her  little  family  off.  Not  complete  yet  of  course  but  almost  halfway  there.

nyx's  soft  spot  for  children  is  well-known.  some  people  are  meant  to  be  parents,  and  nyx  counts  herself  and  her  dear  friend  among  them.  motherhood  was  more  than  a  way  of  keeping  their  friendship  strong;  it  felt  like  a  purpose,  despite  all  the  difficulties  life  had  thrown  at  them.  at  the  vision  of  the  little  angel  in  hekate's  arms,  nyx  can't  help  but  clasp  her  hands  together  and  coo  softly. 

“look  at  her,”  she  whispers,  looking  up  to  hekate  with  such  happiness  in  her  gaze.  "she's  beautiful.  such  a  strong  appetite,  too.  and  her  hair!  so  much  for  one  so  small."

sal  had  known  something  was  off  from  the  sudden  bottleneck  in  her  connection  with  her  twin.  the  muffled  rage  had  ebbed  and  flowed,  like  a  colorful  hurricane  within  an  enclosure  she  couldn't  touch.  helpless  to  do  anything  but  watch,  she'd  remained  agitated,  pacing  in  her  room  as  she  waited  for  someone,  anyone  to  tell  her  what  was  going  on.

she  lost  time  like  that,  periodically  checking  in  but  finding  it  harder  and  harder  to  do  so.  clearly  she  wasn't  wanted  to  be  spying  in  this  way.  but  who  else  was  helping  him?

melinoë  prides  herself  on  her  ability  to  hide  what  she's  truly  thinking.  it's  befitting  of  a  queen,  a  skill  long  since  learned  from  her  father,  and  sharpened  with  utmost  care.  her  indecipherable  expression  of  neutrality  is  a  weapon  she  wields  with  expertise  and  precision.  it  has  never  failed  her. 

until  now,  when  her  little  brother  –  not  so  little  anymore,  given  how  much  taller  than  her  he  is  now  –  startles  her  with  three  little  words  of  dry  observation.  she  hadn't  thought  anyone  had  noticed  dystonia's  arrival,  much  less  their  shared  moments  and  conversation  in  persephone's  gardens.  both  of  their  mothers  were  fond  of  gardening,  it  seemed,  though  for  wildly  different  ends.  and  while  dystonia  is  technically  a  parasomnia  daimon,  nightmare  is  just  as  appropriate  given  their  father.
