Jasper’s knees trembled and gave way, hitting the tile with a dull thud. “No...” he whispered. His palms hit the tile next. “How could you...?” A gasp, a sob, his shoulders shook. “I trusted you...”

Daniel was taken aback, glancing up and down the aisle nervously. “Um, what are you doing?”

“Jasper, get up. People are staring.”

Daniel grabbed the cart. “I’m leaving.” He power-walked out of the aisle and turned into the next one, face red.

“Danny! Don’t leave me like this!” Jasper hopped up and brushed his knees off. People were staring, but he didn’t care. He cast them a friendly wave as he hurried to catch up to Daniel. 

“Don’t follow me! I don’t know you!”

“Danny, baby, I’m sorry!”

“I am! Give me some sugar!”

Jasper caught up to him and threw his arms around him. “Babe I love you!” 

“Don’t touch me! You were on the floor! It’s disgusting!”

Jasper licked his lips and placed sloppy kisses on Daniel’s cheeks.

“EW! STOP IT! UGH!” Daniel pushed him away. “I can’t believe I ended up with two children! Go look at toys with Max so I can shop in peace!”
