In 2007, I was immensely overjoyed to FINALLY see Ghost Rider's flaming skull and motorcycle tires light up the big screen in spectacular fashion thanks to Columbia Pictures (Sony)'s GHOST RIDER film starring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze! 🔥

Yes, he wasn't MY Ghost Rider, Danny Ketch (the 2nd modern-day Ghost Rider in the comics after Johnny), but it was still incredible to see! I didn't grow up reading about Johnny Blaze's adventures, though I like the character, but for 12-year old me seeing Javier Saltares' iconic cover to Ghost Rider #1 in 1990 on the shelf at my local Circle K in Port Hueneme and taking it home is one of those wonderful, nostalgic memories burned (pun intended!) into my brain forever! The bike, the chains, the leather jacket, spikes and flaming skull were like the coolest thing I'd ever seen and he's still one of my all-time favorites!!! ❤

So sure, the movie has its faults and it may not be about Danny (though visually it borrowed much more from Danny's Ghost Rider than Johnny's), but it was just SUCH an exciting thrill to see Ghost Rider depicted in live-action so amazingly (those transformations!), riding up the sides of buildings, doing the penance stare (all of it!!), that to this day it's totally one of my favorite guilty pleasures! 🥳

Of course, there was a second live-action Nicolas Cage Ghost Rider movie in 2011 that finally did introduce a young Danny into a very different version of the story, and sadly that didn't go anywhere, so I still wait patiently for Danny Ketch's Ghost Rider to finally take center stage as the new Ghost Rider in the MCU someday! 🙏

All signs point to an upcoming MIDNIGHT SONS film delving deeper into Marvel's darker, more supernatural side coming in the next phase of MCU movies after Secret Wars (during what will likely become "The Mutant Saga"), which should definitely include a Ghost Rider character (fingers crossed that it's Danny!!!), alongside Mahershala Ali's Blade, Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight, Gael Garcia Bernal's Werewolf by Night, and probably/hopefully Carey Jones/Jeffrey Ford's Man-Thing, Laura Donnelly's Elsa Bloodstone, and maybe even Doctor Strange (+ more!!), and I CAN'T WAIT!!! 🙏🔥

With all the fun multi-versal madness currently going on and the upcoming Doomsday/Secret Wars films, I think it's very probable that we might see Nicolas Cage's Johnny Blaze return, at least briefly (it almost happened in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie!), and I thought Gabriel Luna did an awesome job portraying the 3rd moder-day Ghost Rider from the comics, Robbie Reyes, on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series many years ago (and he's still supposed to be alive somewhere in another dimension, so I wouldn't be surprised if he also makes a comeback at some point), but I obviously feel it's time to properly tell Danny Ketch's story in the MCU and I'm VERY hopeful we'll get to it eventually! 🙏🙏🙏
