To clarify things a bit, I base my characterization of the Mule and Daneel on the Foundation book series, not the Netflix version. No shade on that or the folks who enjoy it, I just prefer the books.
Also my default-verse for the Mule is after the Second Foundation mentalists distracted him long enough for them to remove the memories that tormented him and drove him to his worst actions. Afterwards they left him in charge of ruling the Empire, because they had no interest in doing it themselves.
As the First Speaker predicted, during the few years he had left, the Mule proved to be both an able ruler and a much happier man.
