Wouldn't u think the bunker issue for Dean would parallel him to Cas and Mary in which they feel out of place/ like they don't necessarily belong and now he's on the outside and gets inside perspective on them
Hi, and yeah, Iām thinking back to 12.03, and Mary and Cas talking about wondering when theyāll feel like they belonged there. Sure, Mary didnāt feel like she belonged because of her own guilt over her role in... everything. Everything that happened to them because of her deal, that she couldnāt protect them from because sheād been dead for 33 years. So for Mary, her discomfort was moreĀ ācouldnāt look her children in the face without feeling like she destroyed their lives for ten selfish years of what sheād wanted, and how everything sheād hoped for in saving John went up in flames the night she died.ā So, founded in guilt.
Not to mention the whole literally-out-of-place, having been resurrected 33 years after she died, and her children and the rest of the world changed completely in that time. So for Mary, everywhere she looked-- not just inside the bunker with Sam and Dean-- had to feelĀ āout of place,ā you know? Life is very different now than it was in 1983...
Cas didnāt feel terriblyĀ āout of placeā in the bunker until Mary came back. A big part of the reason he left in 12.03 was because he felt Sam and Dean needed to spend someĀ āfamily timeā with Mary. Cas knew she wasnāt adjusting well, and he partly wanted to remove himself from the situation to give her space to adjust... With her back, he didnāt know what his place was anymore. So in that respect, I think what he was feeling will mirror some of what Dean might feel when he gets home.
I think thereās gonna be a lot more making Dean feel out of place in his own home (and like... even out of place in his own skin after what heās been through), but yeah, at least in this, I think heāll get a first-hand understanding of how Cas felt in 12.03. Returning home not to his refuge from the world, but the bunker turned into a place of constant activity. Not only that, but Sam acting as theĀ āchiefā to a couple dozen people who now look to him for leadership.
Then again, I said in another post recently that some of the tension Dean feels about being back might be related to the fact the AU Hunters primary mission was to kill Michael regardless if they were able to save Dean or not. That might make it uncomfortable to surrounded by these people all the time in addition to just feeling like his home was invaded, you know? But how many of those people are gonna resent DEAN for being alive while Michaelās still out there? And Iām wondering if some (most?) of them might be just as uncomfortable staying in the bunker with Dean...Ā
