Danara and Commander Riker - Shadows of Honor
Danara is allowed to wear her red uniform because it is an official uniform of her home planet, reflecting her status there. It is not a standard Starfleet uniform.
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
Oh, how am I supposed to choose from everything? So, I'm gonna just go with the ones that I hold dear in my heart and still have a giggle about 🤣 🤣 🤣
i always say deanjohn is what got me back into writing but it's really what got me back into fandom. what actually broke my decade-long writer's block was fixing danny.
the house don't fall (when the bones are good)
the last ship, danny green/kara foster, rated M
it's a post-series fix-it, warning for: ptsd (hypervigilance, nightmares, flashbacks) and mental health issues
it's a multi-chapter fic and my longest to date so i'm just sharing this here in case anyone wants to check it out. <3
Danny/Kara [The Last Ship], AU, Snippet 2
It has been almost a year since she has seen or heard from Danny when she first meets Adam. He’s the opposite of everything Danny is and it’s not just the jet-black hair and the warm brown eyes. It’s the stable 9-5 job, the quiet, unhurried, relaxed way he lives his life, how he’s always there when he’s needed.

Danara with her mother Tavara (Klingon) and father Drakor (Drellan) - Shadows of Honor
It's a misconception that Drellans, because they are known to be Technopaths, are not warriors. In reality, they are indeed a warrior race, albeit a paranoid one.
Not all Drellans possess Technopathic abilities. Over the generations, this ability has become increasingly rare. Consequently, the Drellans had to learn to defend their planet through more traditional means, independent of technology. This led to the development of their dual nature: technologically advanced yet also skilled warriors.
When a Klingon vessel crash-landed on Drella, a fierce battle ensued. This encounter showcased the Klingons' exceptional combat prowess. The Drellans, recognizing the need for such ferocity to safeguard their people, especially with the decline in Technopathic abilities, decided to harness this power. They utilized their technological expertise to subdue the Klingons. Under the directives of the Old Ones, the Drellans conducted extensive experiments on the captured Klingons. These procedures were so invasive that they often resulted in significant memory loss or confusion among the subjects. This marked the genesis of the Beserkers.
The Beserkers were Klingons who had been transformed through the Drellans' experiments. To manage this unpredictable force, the Drellans settled the Beserkers in the Outlands, outside the city's limits. While the Beserkers believed they were autonomous, the reality was far more sinister. The Drellans maintained covert control over the Beserkers, manipulating them from the shadows to ensure they remained under Drellan influence without realizing it.
The Drellans conducted experiments of another nature as well—by blending the two species. The only hybrid to survive into Drellan adulthood was Danara. She not only inherited the slowed aging process of the Drellans but also the Technopathic ability.
The Drellans' willingness to experiment on the Klingons, inflicting considerable pain and erasing their memories, underscores their ruthless dedication to protecting their race. This readiness to do whatever it takes to safeguard their people makes the Drellans a force to be feared. Their commitment to survival at any cost, even through ethically questionable means, highlights the lengths they will go to ensure the safety and continuity of their civilization.
