A Damphire, historically according to lore, is a Slavic type of vampire that is the result of a Male Vampire mating with a Female Human-resulting in the offspring being a Damphire. They have all the fun tricks a vampire has without the weaknesses of the sun and were used to basically point out and find other vampires. They are often described as having black untamed hair, lack shadows, some have no bones and often rather slightly larger than average facial features.

In the world of Induction, Damphires are forbidden to make because well, historically they were used to snitch on who was a monster because of their natural second sight-Endangering the Community that was still struggling to keep hidden from human eyes and judgement. There's also the fact they lead very very short lives, many of them not living past childhood or barely reaching puberty before their bodies just start shutting down. The Vampire Council decreed that procreating with intent to make Damphires is wrong morally and socially as they decided it would be cruel and wrong to bring a child into the world only for it to die and suffer. Even as an accident will get the vampire in a HEAP load of trouble.

The last vampire who is recorded to have made Damphires enmasse is a vampire by the name of Cas Valentino and he had a whopping 23 children. Nobody seemed to have informed him about the safe sex procedures that 1st Gen vampires must taken. His children were confiscated and he was sentenced to be entombed alive and hasn't been released since, over 200 years ago.

A lot of vampires have sort of taken the slogan 'Don't PLAY with your FOOD.' to promote this weird form of abstinence they have. Oddly enough, it's only the 1st Gen Vampires who are fertile with humans and not each other. Many other monsters debate that it's not their council's place to decide how and what they get up into betwixt the sheets, but it's hard to change their system when up to 99% of them agree that it's a good rule to have.

Of course, that doesn't STOP it from happening every now and then. There is a Damphire existing currently in New Chicago

Before Casanova was arrested, roughly only 5 of his loosely estimated 22 children were still alive. They were moved to mortal homes after his arrest.

I decided to play a game called ‘Redesigning old characters without looking at the first image you drew of them, it’s solely on what you remember about them’ and BOY. It’s wild to see how I’ve improved and pushed myself forward to try and get better compared to when the original images were done (I think like ...2017? 2018 maybe.) as well as experiment with a new kind of hair style.

Literally, the entire interpertation in mythology is that a Damphire (Half human, Half Vampire) Is about as physically useful as a wet lasanga noodle, rarely lives past puberty and are over all squishy and weird.

I mean, they have some what of a supernatural extra sense and can see monsters in hiding-but that's about it. Just.
