Father’s Family: Caerin’s Father was the King before him and was rather strict towards his grandchildren. The former Queen however was kind and smothered them with love. Because of this Dalliah was closer to her grandmother. Her father was an only child.

Mother’s Family: She has many siblings and it was constant competition between them growing up, but she is quite close to many of them. Her parents were strict but loving. They visit as often as possible.

Growing Up: She gets along with her three siblings very well. She always the rambunctious one who was running off to find a new adventure. Her mother worried about her constantly while her father encouraged it.

What do other’s think of them?: Others find her charming and unpredictable. Some have fallen for her but she has gently let them down. Everyone thinks of her as the lovable nerd.

Friends: Has many friends. She always tries to make new ones everywhere she goes. Her closest friends are Nolan and Grievance. Nolan is her personal guard so he always follows her wherever she goes. Grievance comes along as often as he can.

Personality-

Traits: Outgoing, she is always looking for something or someone new. She is also compassionate and hopeful. It is hard to beat her optimism, but she is aware that the world is far from perfect. When she hears of oppression or people in need she is always the first to run to their side. It infuriates Nolan to no end how brave and reckless she can be.

Biggest Regret: She regrets not staying at the castle more to see if she could have prevented the changes in her father.

Fears: That she will fail her people and her kingdom. Losing her family and disappointing them. Hates dark cramped places.

Secret Wish: That sometimes she could leave the title of princess at home.

Ignorant of: How to play the games of the wealthier families. She always left that to her sister Nadine. She has yet to learn all of the problems facing her people but she is very aware of that.

Influenced by: Her parents instilled a sense that the people were a priority, although they didn’t expect her to go so far with it. Every culture she visits she tries to learn something from. She reads in high volume and variety to make sure she knows her history.

Hair: It’s long, dark, and glossy. It’s kept straight and she has bangs the stop a bit above her eyebrows. Sometimes she puts it up or does cool things with accessories.

Body: She has a thin and lean build. She’s athletic because of all the self defense training. She is gifted with the bow so her arms are exceptionally buff. Her limbs are long. Her fingers and neck are long and elegant.

Hobbies: She reads often and dabbles in writing stories of her own. She published a book on provincial cultures that was distributed across Alem. Sparring and shooting her bow is something she does in her free time as well to keep herself sharp. She loves the arts so she often goes to plays or musicals. She helps smaller cultures keep their arts alive.

Backstory- She’s the Princess of Alemis so she has been raised in wealth. She often got in trouble for running off from the castle. Any marriages that her parents tried to talk her into she got out of by simply running off. If there were any issues in the kingdom she was the first in her family to get there and do everything she can to fix the problem.

Prompt- Directions

“Are we lost?” asked Grievance in a fake cheerful voice. That told Dalliah he was growing impatient.

“N-no,” was Nolan’s stammered reply. Dalliah felt sorry for him.

“Here Nolan hand me the map,” she said kindly to him, but before she could take it from him he shook his head and clutched it closer to himself.

“Princess I promise you we are not lost.” His nose scrunched up in indignation. 

Dalliah sighed. Now he felt he had to prove himself to her. He took his job as her bodyguard much too seriously in the wrong aspects. Considering how he was supposed to be worried about her well being shouldn’t he be more focused on not getting her lost?

“Nolan don’t be stubborn,” grumbled Grievance. He was frowning now.

“Do we go that way?” Nolan mumbled to himself. “No, perhaps that way.” He pointed in another direction. “Or maybe-”

A shrieking wail pierced the air. The Nythil stood on its hind legs atop a small cliff above us and peered at us while it assumed a predatory stance. Its arms were like long blades with serrated edges that were attached to a lithe black form. Its torso was long and it’s height was twice that of a human’s. There was no hair anywhere on its body. It skulked over and shrieked again, so it could display a mouth full of rows of sharp teeth that pointed inward. There were no eyes on this one, which was a strange feature for its kind. They usually had a small pair of eyes in the center of their faces with slit nostrils, but this one only had a mouth. Two holes on the side of its head indicated ears. 

“Stand back Princess,” Nolan said to Dalliah as he raced in front of her to shield her with his body. He unsheathed his sword and followed suit.

The creature cocked its head before it began to climb down swiftly towards them. Bits of rock came out of the cliff face from the power it exerted in its descent. When it landed on the ground near them it immediately jumped towards Grievance who met it’s arm with his blade. 

Dalliah pulled out her bow and distracted the Nythil with an arrow aimed for its ears, but as the arrow approached skin on the ear fanned out. It then jumped back out of harms way and shrieked again. 

“Excellent hearing,” Grievance commented.

“Don’t compliment it,” griped Nolan.

“A statement isn’t a compliment.”

“Boys,” Dalliah said tiredly. “Not the time.” She shot another arrow and then a second one in quick succession hoping two at once would overwhelm it. 

It knocked both out of the air with ease and was already running at them again. Nolan met it this time. He had managed to pull out another smaller sword so he could clash with both of the arms at once. 

Deciding this was her chance Dalliah ran to the side of thing while maintaining some distance still. She shot an arrow at its neck. 

The creature heard the arrow and moved out of the way, but failed to notice Grievance on the other side. He was known for being the most silent swordsman in Alem. His blade cut through its neck cleanly and its head fell to the ground. 

After regaining their breath they stared down at the body of the Nythil. Dalliah frowned deeply. 

“Well I guess we didn’t need the map to where the creature had been spotted the most after all.” Nolan seemed happy now that he was no longer being pressured for an answer on where to go.

“Dalliah,” said Grievance.

She looked over to him and found him staring at her with a worried frown. She waved off his worries. “I’m fine, I just think there have been more Nythil sightings than usual. Now people are actually starting rumors on whether or not they really exist when before we could let them have their ignorance.”

She stared at the Nythil for a little longer before turning away abruptly. She handed her bow to her guard who’s hand was already outstretched. “Inform the other guards we left in the nearby village to dispose of the body.”

“Understood.”
