Stepping out into the arid lands of the Scarred Wastelands, Dains looked out over the path that stood before him. Where once was pristine platinum armor now sat twisted, ghostly metal, and crimson tendrils and wisps. The only recognizable armor that remains was heavy copper gauntlet fastened to hit wrist.
Tucking away a scrap of parchment, he set out.He cared not of the world around him now. He was tired of sitting by and doing nothing. No, today would start a grand hunt only known to and belonged to him. If he couldn’t succeed, then he would die trying. He’d either get retribution or be reunited with those he cared for most.
With each step he took, he left scars where is claws dug in. He had no intention of sneaking up on his query. He wanted them to know he was coming, that no matter where they hid, he would find them. Those he had found already now stained his claws and tail an ashen grey, the only survivors being the unhatched. Each egg being deposited within the next clan he came across, regardless of them being beastclan or dragon. Each clan visited giving information in return.
He had already visited many encampments, splinters of the clan he was seeking, leaving nothing but fire and ash behind as he left each one. Today he had a larger encampment in his sights. One he hoped would cause the others to crawl from the woodwork and confront him.
Dains had expected to fight a war, to find his prey to stand their ground. With each encampment that fell, he found them to be relenting and cowardly, hiding at the first sign of conflict.Eventually, he came to accept this, and started tracking them not as a warrior, but as a hunter. If they wanted to hide, then he would seek.
With encampment in sight, he stopped to take in the fortifications. From all appearances, word had definitely reached them of his approach. With little more than a laugh, he set up to wait for night. The fortifications didn’t matter, they would burn just as easily as the rest.
I am deliriously unwell for Elias right now. This show is single-handedly addressing past trauma, mommy/daddy issues, boundary issues, and love problems? The sheer amount of rizz this awkward green thumb daddy is IN-FUCKING-SANE.
I love him. I do. I love at part with Plo Koon. I want them to have tea. Want Plo to be teach him things. Want him to make Plo mind blown over mage stuff.
But of course, I still want him to chomp neck off and crush me to bits. THERE IS SO MUCH HEALING HAPPENING IN THIS BINCH, OH MY GOD.
Shamelessly making my oc his apprentice too. And we making him giddy!
Tagging bone-green thumb daddy besties @eyecandyeoz @justalittletomato let's gooo:

[ For my soulmate, @eyecandyeoz ♥ ] by scent.2002 || Meta
WIP Ver. 1 under cut ♥
I've been thinking about the whole S2 binge watch we did and the talks about everything and I think the Red Pill - Blue Pill concept seems apropos given the unexpected upturn of how I'm starting to see things again as they should be seen as. I'll find a better way to articulate it to a point, but what I'm so excited about is it can all be a swap between us three.
It makes me want to write a thing about this for some reason. But I need us to finish the binge watch soon and then OVA and I'll try not to ksajdkadja over the manga.
This is my little thank you for always being the monster fucker bestie who lets me ramble on over all the daddies and personal life thingies. Discovering we have such parallel lives is a major win too!
It had been nearly a century since her passing, but the scene still burned in Dains’s mind. It wore away at him like the sea breeze against iron fortifications. There were few that would talk to him after that day, and even fewer who offer him a shoulder. As far as the majority of the clan knew, he was a guardian who failed their charge, nothing more.
Day in and day out, he would spend his time reliving that day, wondering what he could have done to stop it from happening. At first, things were stable for him. He would look after his son Rii’Den, spending as much time as he could to make sure child was never wanting.
Once Rii’Den came of age to be able to support himself, Dains’s condition seemed to become self absorbed. He would eventually cut ties and communication with those around him, and shut himself within his den. His only remaining connection with the clan being his mother who would bring him food.
“We need help you know? We can’t just keep sitting here like this,” a voice chipped in, ringing through Dains’s mind, “Help is only a stone’s throw away. Everyone knows we need help, we need only ask.”
This wouldn’t be the first or last time that Dains would hear this voice. Over the past couple years, his mind had become fragmented in a sense. Piece had come together, forming a perspective and voice of their own.
“Yes, but they’re the same ones who have left us to rot here. They’d just as soon see us disappear. They owe us nothing, and we owe them nothing,” a second voice replied, its presence like a cloud floating through his mind, “Besides, why should we call on those who think of us as a failure and monster? Where we they that day anyways? Why was it only us who cared? All they saw in us was a monster who destroys souls.”
“You know as well as I do that that isn’t true. At the very least, we have our mother, father, and son to lean on. They haven’t given up on us, and we’ve no reason to believe they have,” the first voice said, “Even it isn’t them who help us, we need to reach out. We can just as easily show them who and what we truly are, and put ourselves at this world’s mercy. Regardless of the route, we are not in this world alone.”
“ENOUGH,” Dains finally roared out, his voice hoarse. In his attempt to pick himself, his mind blanked out, leaving him unconscious. When he came to, he no longer wore the guise of a guardian. The very fringes of his fur and feathered showed signs of being burnt. Around him, he could the voices of many others, some familiar and others foreign.
“It’s alright dear, just relax. It isn’t your time yet,” one of the voices called as a crystalline figure came into view before vanishing again, “Rest now, you’ve a long road ahead of you.”
“Thank the Chapters, he’s awake,” Mayumi called out, seeing Dains’s movements, “Tell me, what happened? Why did you try to throw yourself into the forge?”
“I... I don’t know,” Dains replied, “I don’t remember.....”
Reports were rampant. Lairs and camps were disappearing with little more than ruin and white ash to prove they were there. Nests were destroyed with a worrying lack of eggshells remaining. Consulting with nearby beast and dragon clan groups proved fruitless. It was obvious, someone or something was hunting them down, group by group. Something smart enough to erase any tracks it left behind.
“We can’t just sit idly by while our brethren are slaughtered. Whatever is responsible, it must be taking them by surprise, it’s the only way,” the hotheaded mirror stated as he looked to each of the council around him, “I’ve seen the ruins myself, this is no mere disease. No disease would leave this kind of destruction behind.”
“Then what would you have us do? Disease or not, this threat has proven that it is quick and merciless. Entire lairs have been wiped out in as little as a night. Without a discernible pattern to these attacks, we have no way of telling what group is the next target,” the elderly mirror at the head of the council replied, “If we want to have any hope of repelling or defeating this threat, then we must learn where it will strike next.”
Looking up at the council head’s words, the hot headed mirror stood stiff. “Then I’ll track this thing myself. I’ve nothing left to loose but my pride.”
Stepping from a burning structure, Dains held open his satchel as crimson hands deposited egg after egg into his care.He had no intent to extinguish the fire of an innocent soul. The parents of these eggs may be absolute monstrosities in his mind, but the eggs had done nothing to earn his ire.
Batting aside another would be assailant, the crimson hands that sprouted from his spine lifted and restrained their form for Dains to judge. “May the Flamekeeper judge your soul, your kind has no place in this world,” Dains said before letting out a gout of white-blue fire to engulf the captive.
Looking around at the destruction that surrounded him, he lowered his head. “And may he have mercy on mine own.” Determining that the lair had been thoroughly wiped of all life other than his or the innocent, he made for the entrance, and from there lifted into the skies to scout out the nearest water clan. While his peculiar armor defended him from most blows, he still has several injuries to tend too, but his concern was not for himself, but for the eggs he now carried. He could take care of himself, but the eggs needed a place that would see to their care.
