he’s not sure why the x does not fit him quite right. the bright yellow spandex covering his chest, feels more out of place than the rest of his look. but he just as not built for the black and red look. he feels out of place here, it’s a school for gifted youngsters, ua’s sister school he’s heard despite how much older it is. honestly he feels himself shaking in his boots a little bit. he doesn’t know anyone here.

his feelings about the guild are…complicated. the members aren’t all bad people, but lovecraft can’t exactly call anyone a friend besides steinbeck. and there’s the fact that he’s not there of his own will (something he holds against fitzgerald), which isn’t going to encourage him to socialize more than necessary. in general, outside of his relationship with steinbeck, he likely gets along best with poe, due to their similar (nervous) temperaments. on the other hand, he and hawthorne are mildly antagonistic, though that’s more on hawthorne’s part.
on the topic of steinbeck: there’s a lot of trust there, grown from the time they’ve spent together. lovecraft wasn’t quite sure what to make of him at first–he was a teenager when he joined the guild and they were partnered together–but steinbeck was the first partner that stuck with him for any significant amount of time. most of the people lovecraft worked with in the past requested reassignment due to extenuating circumstances (seeing lovecraft’s true form), but steinbeck took it all in stride, which quickly set the tone for their partnership. it’s easy to warm up to someone when they don’t freak out about you being a monster.
