“…  you're  paige's  friend,  right  ?”  though  she  appears  by  no  means  to  veil  her  distaste  for  the  girl  whose  name  leaves  her  mouth,  she's  polite  towards  the  other  nonetheless,  attempting  at  a  smile  when  their  eyes  finally  meet.  “i  think  she's  out  in  the  alley  with  shep,"  a  finger  points  down  the  hallway,  “though  i'd  probably  knock  before  opening  that  stage  door.”  she  rolls  her  eyes,  but  the  smile  on  her  face  lingers  as  she  pushes  herself  off  the  wall,  stepping  closer  to  her  newfound  companion.  ”i'm  bijou,  by  the  way.  you're  free  to  wait  with  me  until  they're  done  with  …  whatever  that  is,  i  suppose."

“you  ready  ?”  it's  a  challenge  too  late,  of  course;  already  propped  on  her  lap  and  caging  the  other's  frame  between  her  legs,  alouette  busies  herself  with  the  open  palette  at  her  side,  swiping  at  a  glittery  shade  of  pink  before  applying  it  to  the  back  of  her  palm  for  a  closer  look.  “reggie's  parties  are  always  too  dark  for  anyone  to  notice  your  makeup,  really,  but  i  think  this  shade'd  look  mega  pretty  on  you,  don't'cha  think  ?”  holding  up  her  hand  for  aditi  to  see,  alouette  smiles,  tilting  her  head  to  regard  her.  “let  me  know  if  i'm  too  heavy,  too,  by  the  way  !  it's  just  easier  for  me  to  do  your  makeup  up  close  like  this.”

a  lesson  guada  has  learned,  over  the  past  few  years  especially,  is  this:  there  is  a  certain  brand  of  frustration  that  comes  alive  only  when  lupe  ushers  it  in.  it's  the  same  irritation  that  plagues  her  now,  wrenching  her  arm  away  from  the  older's  authoritative  grip.  “you're  kidding  me  right  now,  right  ?”  she  demands,  scowl  ready  and  fixed  on  her  face  as  she  addresses  her.  “it  was  a  party;  last  i  checked,  i  never  needed  your  permission  to  go  to  those  just  because  you  never  got  to.”  and  maybe  the  mix  of  alcohol  on  her  breath  is  a  slightly  more  effective  catalyst  to  the  vexation  she  feels  than  she  means  for  it  to  be,  but  in  the  moment  she's  too  upset  to  rein  it  in.  “i  can't  believe  you'd  treat  me  like  a  kid  —  in  front  of  ethan,  in  front  of  everyone.  it's  humiliating.”

              fondness  is  a  vice,  slow  but  certain  as  it  grips  him  when  he  opens  his  door  to  meet  him.  “rainey's  still  pissed  at  ya.”  he  surmises,  all  too  knowing  of  his  best  friend's  expressions  without  him  having  to  get  a  word  in  edgewise.  with  a  grin,  rome  steps  to  the  side,  allowing  santi  entrance  before  he's  bolting  it  shut,  three  locks  and  all.  “really  shouldn't  be  headin'  out  alone  these  nights,  you  know  ?  what  with  that  killer  on  the  loose.”  he  calls  out,  though  it's  an  emptier  warning  than  it  maybe  ought  to  be  —  still,  in  his  eyes,  nothing  sinister  ever  happened  in  their  small  portion  of  the  map.  “could've  met  you  back  at  your  place  instead.”

“you're  not  even  paying  attention  to  the  movie.”  is  her  foremost  accusatory  gripe,  pulling  away  from  her  place  on  his  chest  to  swat  at  it  with  no  such  force.  “she  literally  just  found  josh's  teeth  inside  his  shirt.  like,  if  you  even  care.”  reaching  for  the  remote  to  hit  pause,  ginny  then  folds  her  arms  across  her  chest  in  a  huff,  back  against  the  headboard  of  his  queen  size  as  she  casts  him  a  side-glare.  “if  you  don't  wanna  watch,  campy,  you  should've  just  said  so  from  the  beginning  !  then  i  wouldn't  be  wastin'  my  time  !”
