Pain of being a Hummingbird shipper:
Hummingbird Supporters: *Minding their own buisness, sharing headcanons with each other, still loving Taiyang*
Everyone else: STAP IT111!!11 ITS NOT CANON YOU BASTARDS!!!11!! STAP DISRESPECTING MONTY1111111!!!!!!
Seeing all the new Hummingbird posts since the finale, I was wondering: whatâs the appeal of the line of thinking that Qrow is Rubyâs pops? I get itâs fun to theorize and all, but is it deeper than that?
I mean, if it doesnât appeal to you me explaining it wonât suddenly make you into it, but itâs basically a bunch of people who love Qrow as a character, love Summerâs potential and what she could/couldâve been, and see all these little signs in the show that point to Qrow being more plausible as her father and not Taiyang.
Aside from M&K saying what they have, it doesnât exactly add up to what weâve been shown in the series. Thatâs why it bugs us and why we are eager to see if something comes of it.
Thatâs the basis of it. It does go deeper for some and if youâd like there are a ton of posts about this, but thatâs the long and the short of it.
Honestly, the only thing keeping me from accepting that fact that Qrow is Ruby's father, is that it was debunked multiple times. Sad considering how much Qrow acts like a father to her.
Hey, you do what you have to do Anon. Iâm prepared to die on this hill lol.
Okay. I'm gonna try to say this as respectful as possible, so bare with me. About the whole "Qrow is Ruby's dad" theory. It was said by Miles that Qrow ISN'T Ruby's dad on reddit. Yes, I understand that this'll piss off the theorists, but unfortunately, there are things we need to just accept and move on. The creators themselves have debunked a theory, which is essentially the final nail in the coffin for the theory. Yes, you can be sad or angry about this, but you have to learn and accept it.
Iâm not sure why youâre telling me this. Though I donât mind the theory I have never really been a big supporter and the only thing I posted about it recently was about said Reddit Q&A.Â
As respectful as youâre trying to come across, you are not and why do you even care? "You have to learn and accept itâ is not respectful at all because itâs actually none of your business. Let people believe what they want, let people refuse to accept canon if they want to, itâs their business after all and not yours. It doesnât concern you unless they drag it into your inbox.Â
I have never seen theorists be a dick about this theory. Yeah, some were disappointed, but they were still polite about it. But people who didnât believe in the theory have insulted others about it which is just not okay. Itâs just a theory, guys. Why do you even care who strangers on the internet think is the father of this fictional character? There are still people out there who believe vaccines cause autism, go after them if youâre that bored.Â
Trying to police what people think concerning a theory on a show about fictional characters when none of their posts effect or harm you in any way isnât a healthy or okay thing to do. As long as it doesnât harm or discriminate against someone it is none of your business what others believe in and what they talk about in the fandom. You have absolutely no right to tell them to âlearn and accept itâ or to stop believing in this theory, even though it has been debunked. Maybe you should think about why it offends you that much. You could use that energy to be a much more positive influence on this fandom.Â
You might try to come across as respectful, but youâre just being rude and really misunderstanding what actually is your business and what clearly isnât.
This theory isnât toxic, itâs not doing any harm to anyone (no, hurting your feelings because âMiles said itâs not true!â do not count), and itâs not not discriminating against anyone. Live and let live.Â

Lindsay once mentioned that we should look closer at they lyrics for Bad Luck Charm and that something in there may be important later on, I'm wondering do you have any thoughts on that? I always thought the line "I will change the colour of your life" was interesting, like what on earth does that MEAN? I also think it's pretty interesting that he mentions being a black cat and an albatross which can be considered both bad luck AND good luck.
Many believe it refers to the line âYou donât want the burden of my nameâ and implies that Qrow is Rubyâs father but she canât know because his semblance makes it hard to stay close to family. Itâs the only thing I can think of right now.Â
Do you think there is any evidence of Qrow being Ruby's dad beyond her dressing like him?
Depends on whether you want to call it evidence or hints. There is no canon confirmation, but there are several hints that make some think he absolutely has to be her father, others think that they donât mean anything. The arguments as far as I can remember them right now are:Â
Qrow trained Ruby and seems to have a much closer bond to her than to Yang who is actually related to him. Also to some Tai seems to be closer to Yang than to Ruby.Â
The âYou donât want the burden of my nameâ line in Bad Luck Charm and Lindsay saying some lyrics of that song could be important later on.Â
With his semblance it makes sense for Qrow to pretend heâs not her father, he canât be around much anyway.Â
The way he said âFamilyâ in A much needed talk. It makes more sense when he is actually avoiding his family and own daughter to keep them safe.Â
Ruby looks nothing like Tai and all the other characters on the show seem to look like both their parents.Â
Tai seems to still be very fond of Raven, some believe that it doesnât make sense for him to be with Summer so soon after Raven left him.Â
Qrow calls Raven out on pretending Yang doesnât exist and people said heâd be a hypocrite for then pretending not to be Rubyâs father, but actually he has been in Rubyâs life, has been there for her and has made sure she has a father figure so she wouldnât notice the hole he might leave.
Some bad shit must have happened to Qrow to make him become such a bitter drunk. Some believe it has to do with Summer dying and him not being able to be there for his daugther.Â
You can make of that what you want. This is just a list of arguments people have brought up. But please donât get mad about it if you donât believe he is her father. People who believe he is her father have gotten some nasty shit from people here on Tumblr and a theory is just absolutely not worth attacking people for. We can all think what we want, but letâs be nice about it, okay? Donât insult people, donât attack them, donât call them stupid.Â
Also you donât need to tell me why some of these arguments donât make sense. Not that I donât love hearing all your theories, but I know. I know the arguments of both sides. All of them. Personally, at this point I am okay with it either way, him not being her father or him being her father because that way all the Ruby/Qrow shippers can burn.
If you need to talk about why this theory is stupid I would appreciate it if you didnât do it under my post because some of the stuff Iâve read about this theory here on Tumblr were really mean.
Only the writers can decide if he is her father or not and they have made up their mind long ago. No use in being mean to other fans. That wonât change a thing.
I always appreciate a polite and respectful discussion, I donât appreciate it when people get insulted for a headcanon.
