So as we know, it was supposedly about RJ going on an Oprah parody show titled "The Soapy Windfall Show".

In some of the released storyboards, there are a couple of shots of Mom Unit looking at the aforementioned TV show, tuning out, and heading towards Dad Unit in another room who's reading the paper and gets increasingly annoyed as his wife approaches.

So what if this wasn't actually about RJ and about his parental units instead?

Since the show was so short lived, the Jones' relationships weren't super fleshed out and I really wish we got to know them more. Like yes, the series is mainly about Robot studying middle schoolers but I would have loved a backstory episode or one focusing more on the Jones family.

For all we know, Mr. and Mrs. Jones may have marital issues and we may never know since the show was canceled so abruptly.

Sure, families bicker here and there, even robot families do, like evident in this "Popularity" scene:

Now I know this doesn't necessarily have a deeper meaning but maybe it does?

Knowing Dad Unit's characte, I can TOTALLY see him not listening to his wife and/or being disinterested in what she has say.

Perhaps it was about RJ going on the show all along. Either way though we'll never truly know.

Keep the original art style, but just clean it up a little bit. It doesn’t need to be perfect, just a little more neat in terms of line work, so it keeps the original charm.

Also, keep the characters more on model. Make them have consistent heights no matter what they’re doing or what the scene is.

It also would be interesting to see them reanimate the entire first two seasons as well. But use the audio of the original, of course.

Also, I would want it to take place in the same time as the original. No modernization or timeskips or anything.

As for the continuation side of things, here what I think you could do for the voices.

Since Dad unit is voiced by the Word 98 'Fred' voice, you wouldn’t need to get a voice actor for him.

When it comes to Mom unit, and Robot jones, who are voiced by actual people, they could probably find people to do the voices really well.

In terms of story and plots for the continuation, I think getting episodes focused solely on Mom unit and Dad unit would be neat. It would be cute getting to see more of their bond as husband and wife.

What about an episode where Robot goes to have a sleepover?

You could make that a two parter of sorts. In the beginning of the first episode, we learn that Robot is going to go have a sleepover with Socks, Mitch, and Cubey, and Robot’s parents are going to go on a bit of a date night. Then the rest of the episode is focused on the sleepover, with the ending being Robot getting picked up the next morning.

Then the next episode is the same episode, except we now get to see Mom unit and Dad unit’s side of the story with them on their date night.

DJ-Gabby: The forest conservation animaloids are running rampant… It seems they’re under the control of the villain Army! Apparently the device transmitting the signal controlling them is somewhere in these woods…

Charles Calvin: Well, good luck, girl!

Henry Stickmin: We’ll jus’ wait here for you and take a rest…

John: This backwater planet is no place for a cool guy like me!

DJ-Gabby: We’re All going! ALL OF US! If we check it out now, we won’t be able to bring peace to the universe… [Sees a snake] HUH?!?

John: What’s wrong?

DJ-Gabby: N-Nothing, never mind… Anyway, all of you stick close to me!

DJ-Gabby: It’s dangerous here, so make sure you don’t get separated, no matter..

Professor Untonium: Gabby…

DJ-Gabby: What is it now!?

Professor Untonium: Dee Dee isn’t here..

DJ-Gabby: Oh, is that all?

DJ-Gabby: Dee Dee’s always wandering off somewhere. She’s always…always… [Realized] HUH!?!?

On this day, 20 years ago, the RJ episodes, “Family Vacation” and “Hair”, premiered on the second night of the new “Cartoon Network Fridays”, at 11:00pm
