Eventually he says, low and kinda hoarse, "she's our little girl, we're supposed to protect her" and she says "hey, it's ok" and then "look at me" and he does, but he doesn't move away. She says "our daughter is strong, and so brave. She's here." and he sort of sighs and nods his head against hers, and it's like whatever there was is released.

In honor of the occasion, I’m reposting this brief post-Testaments one shot I wrote after finishing s4 and reading TT. It’s my first and only THT related fanfic, IDK the spirit just moved me, lol, and I’m glad it did because whatever fucked up anti-Nick fanfic s6 was, book TT (you know, where Nick is alive and working against Gilead underground) is still canon as far as I’m concerned, and so this ultimate father/daughter reunion is also still my headcanon.

     “Over the next few months, as the world thawed into a balmy, southern spring, Ellis and the Caruso family settled into a pattern. Nick worked his ass off on the restaurant, gutting the entirety of its insides to turn them into something clean and presentable. Only then could he fill it with qualified cooks and a responsible staff. By early May the changes were enough to make a buzz in their community. By the end of the month the food and service made the buzz so loud it was a scream. The only shame was that Ellis hadn’t had enough time to see it for himself.

      On his end he’d continued working weekdays, but nights and most Saturdays he spent his time looking after Gianna. Though he was paid for it, it was hard to view as a job for how much fun he found himself having with the little girl. Sure, she had bad days—days where she cried or screamed or threw tantrums (and sometimes things )—but they weren’t too numerous. parker coming out to nick during his teen years, being super scared about it but nick just showers him in love and affection and is so proud of him. meanwhile, madison is the ultra confident lesbian who has no problem in telling nick she likes girls after nick makes a comment about her bringing a boyfriend home (to which nick responds with “DOESN’T MATTER I’LL STILL JUDGE THEM ANYWAY”)

eli coming to visit and parker getting slightly jealous because eli gets all of nick’s attention while he’s over but by the end of it eli and parker are playing video games together and parker whines when eli has to leave

nick taking madison bird watching, nick internally freaking out when madison tells him she wants to grow up to be just like nick (and later having a nightmare about her going through all the terrible stuff he went through) but then his mind is put at ease when she shows more interest in lab work than field work (when she visits nick at the lab)

"It's the first full night of sleep any of them had gotten in a long time, and Nick thinks maybe they'll make it if they stay together."

It's not in a fic yet, but it's in the summary of a fic I want to write about Nick Stokes being a widowed father to his babies 😢 y'all I made myself cry just writing the idea down, I'm terrible.

Also @bisexualstokes you gave me the idea 🙂🙃 cause dad!Nick is something I need in life.

Ok, last rec for this little Nick Blaine Father’s Day fanfic mini-marathon because suddenly it’s Sunday night and I still have weekend chores to do (whoops😅). But what a great place to end, because oh my goodness, this one shot is so cute and purely sweet and I think it healed my Nick-loving, Osblaine-loving heart just a little bit. Prime Dad!Nick content with Holly (and really sweet mention of Hannah), story time with fairytales that come true(😭🥹), and wish fulfillment for how it should have turned out back in s4 if June had actually fought for Nick for once!
