summary: you had a really bad day and your boyfriend is there for you
word count: 1,4k
It simply wasn’t your day. Your alarm clock didn't ring on time, so you overslept. You forgot to dry your hair before you went to bed and it was sticking out in every possible direction, so you had to straighten it and you burned yourself. You were late for work, your computer broke, just when you needed to print some important documents for the meeting that was in the next ten minutes. When you were going home you got stuck in traffic and it took you almost an hour to get to your flat. You didn't have time to eat lunch or drink your tea, so you had a completely empty stomach all day, forgot to do the groceries, and finally, while going up the stairs to the fourth floor (the lift turned out to be broken), you fell, bruised your knees and hands and broke the heel of your favorites shoes.
When you finally got home your already bad mood got even worse. The mess you'd left in the morning was bigger than you had remembered, and there was complete silence inside, which meant Harrison, your boyfriend of four years, wasn’t home yet.
Usually you kept things in check. You were the one in charge in your relationship, you were always the one who had everything under control. Especially your emotions. Sure, you loved to share your emotions with your loved ones and cry during movies, but when it came to dealing with adulthood, you had the power.
Usually, but today wasn’t that day. Today you were tired, and everything that could possibly go wrong went exactly like that. Normally you would just ignore it and get on with the things you had to do, but today wasn't normal. Today you were too nervous and frustrated and so damn tired you couldn't keep it cool. Tears began to gather in your eyes as you removed your worn shoes and coat. When you entered the bedroom and threw yourself on the bed, you felt a little better. The smell of your favorite fabric softener, blend of both of your perfumes, and what you could only describe as Harrison's scent soothed your nerves a little.
When Haz came home some time later, he faced a complete silence and a mess he had made before he left. He was surprised that you hadn't cleaned it up when you got home from work. Not because he thought it was your duty as a woman to do the housework, but because he knew your pedantic nature and knew you would clean it up in a second if you were home or you just wouldn't be able to go on with your day if the flat was untidy. Yet Harrison was glad that this time he could do some of the chores and took that responsibility from you.
About ten minutes later, your flat looked like your flat again, and the groceries were put in the right cupboards and then he finally headed to the bedroom to put his phone to the charger. He saw you lying under the pile blanket and heard your soft sobs. He immediately sat down on the edge of the bed, stroking your shoulder.
‘Hi, love.’ When you did not react to his words he put his hand on the small of your back. ‘Come here.’
There was silence for a moment, broken only by your sniffling. Harrison didn't want to overwhelm you, so he waited for any reaction from you, the slightest gesture that would give him permission to approach you. After a minute, however, you came out from under the blanket and climbed onto his lap. Haz wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
‘Do you want to tell me what happened?’ In response, you just hid your face in the crook of his neck, and you just sat there for a while. Harrison was worried sick about what might have happened to affect your mood so much, as you slowly calmed down in his warmth, still crying silently. ‘Shhh, you're safe, I won't leave you. Come on, darling.’
Harrison stared at your tiny body resting on his lap and noticed goose bumps on your skin. He took the blanket that was abandoned on the bed long ago, but you pushed his hand away. He looked at you in surprise.
‘I don't want a blanket.’ You croaked. ‘May I have your hoodie?’
Harrison tossed his head back, laughing, but either way taking off the mint hoodie he was wearing. You smiled gracefully as you settled more comfortably on his lap. The truth was, Harrison's clothes were kinda therapeutic for you. You weren't sure if it was because they were more comfortable than yours, or because they always smelled like his perfume, but they were just so soothing for you.
‘Have you eaten today?’ You shook your head as no. ‘So? Chicken with rice? From Sam's recipe?’
‘Yes, please.’ Haz laughed, getting up from the bed and walking towards the kitchen with you still in his arms. You wanted to help in preparing dinner, but he told you to sit at the kitchen island and handed you a mug of warm tea with milk. ‘Thank you darling. For everything.’
Harrison smiled warmly and kissed your forehead. When dinner was cooking your mood started to improve and you weren’t as devastated as you were when you came home. Now that you both were in a much better mood, you were dancing and singing to some random Spotify playlist.
After dinner, you both decided to get some rest, even if only for a moment. It had been a tough day for you, and now that your stomach was full and all the tension left your body, all you could think of was a nap in your boyfriend's loving arms. Haz lay down on the bed after taking off his t-shirt and changing his jeans to causal gray sweats. He wasn't sleepy, but he wanted to give you a sense of comfort, so he covered you with a blanket and lay down on his back, going on his Instagram.
‘Haz?’
‘Hm?’ You looked at him and stretched out your arms towards him. He laughed, pulling you against his chest. ‘Get some sleep, love.’
Moments after that, you were sleeping peacefully in his arms. Harrison lay still to not wake you up as you were the lighter sleeper in the world and he only looked at you with a lovesick smile. No one was aware of how much he fucking loved you. He always knew that, but today’s events, your daily routine, you both getting up, getting ready for work together, having breakfast tea together, knowing that you felt safe in his arms, that he simply was happy with you, made him realize that he wanted to marry you, that he wanted you to be his happily ever after.
‘What are you thinking about?’ Harrison jumped slightly at the sound of your voice.
‘Marry me.’
‘What?’
‘I may not have another chance and the courage to say that. Y/N, you are the most important person in my whole life, you make me happier every day. You are the most beautiful woman in the world. Inside and out. I want to have you by my side forever, I want to start a family with you, have children with you, grow old with yoy. Therefore, marry me.’
You laughed at the mixture of joy, surprise and affection.
‘You shouldn't be laughing! God, I'm so embarrassed right now. I made a fool of myself, didn't I?’ You looked into Harrison's eyes, which had shed with tears.
‘No, Haz, no. Of course you didn't make a fool of yourself. I want to be your wife, I want to have children with you, I want to spend my whole life by your side.’ Harrison put his hands on your cheeks, drawing you to his lips. The kiss didn’t last long but showed all the love and joy you both felt. The kiss was sweet of the coconut balm on your lips, but also salty with your tears.
‘I love you, Y/N. Most in the world. I know this isn’t the proposal you deserve, I don't even have a ring, but I love you and I want you to know that.’
‘I don't need a ring or any romantic gestures. You're all I need. Only you.’

Could you plz write something about dad!harrison dealing with his toddler’s tantrums/terrible twos.
I changed this just a lil but it's still similar
There was nothing better than watching Haz be a dad. He was the best with your little girl. Even when she, herself, was a nightmare. Jane looked just like her daddy, and of course you'd joked about her having his attitude too, but it wasn't necessarily true. Like today.
You had announced to Harrison that you were pregnant with his second child, and before you announced it to Jane, he wanted to be able to tell her if she was getting a little sister or a little brother. It turned out your new baby was a boy, much to Harrison's surprise considering the similarities in your first and second pregnancy. But regardless, he was excited to tell your baby girl. And the result was less than perfect.
His announcement came from you, and was you telling her she was getting a baby brother from mommy's tummy soon, and almost the second you told her they were a boy, she'd burst in tears and she was sobbing and screaming, her face bright red.
Harrison had grabbed her and cradled her in his arms, her head tucked into her shoulder. He pouts at you,
"She's really upset." He murmurs. You smile,
"She'll get over it." He scoffs,
"She will, I won't." He tells you. You giggle,
"I'm sure you won't." He sighs, sitting her on the couch,
"Jane darling… you are going to have so much fun either your baby brother. You having a little sister won't change anything. You can be just as mean to a little boy." He reasons. She heaves as she continues to cry. You can tell by the look in Harrison's eyes that it's killing him. You move in, stroking her hair down,
"Jane…" You wait until her eyes meet yours, "you like Mr. Shadow right?" You reference her stuffed bear from Harrison's mom. She nods, wiping her red rimmed eyes. You hum,
"And you love having tea parties with him huh?" You pose. She nods again. You smile,
"Well… the bigger the party, the more extravagant you have to get which means cake and ice cream at your tea parties." You tell her. Harrison looks between you, watching Jane light up at the mention of a few of her favorite things. You press a hand to your belly,
"Your baby brother is gonna have his own friends like Mr. Shadow and I just know that's he's going to want to join yours and Mr. Shadow's tea parties and he'll help you get that cake and ice cream." You bribe. Harrison's heart lightens at the look in Jane's eyes, his hand reaching out to smooth her hair down. He leans in and kisses her cheek,
"You're gonna be such a good big sister huh J?" He poses. She nods, glancing up at him, "to a baby brother huh?" He adds, testing the waters. She gives a sniffle, but she nods again, staring up at him,
"Yeah." He smiles,
"That's my good girl. Think there's still some of Uncle Tom's red velvet cake left in the fridge, you wanna check?" He asks her. She nods, eyes lighting up again, throwing herself into his arms. He smiles, kissing her temple. You stand along with him, following him into the kitchen. After he fetches the leftover birthday cake Tom had insisted you take home for your little girl and a fork, he turns to you,
"How bout…" He takes your hand, "We stop at two. If I have to pick up the pieces again after she has a breakdown over another baby brother, I'll have to commit myself to a psych ward." You giggle as he corners you against the counter. Reaching up to stroke his cheek, you lean in and kiss him,
"You're the one insistent on a second baby. Wasn't my idea to get pregnant again." He smiles, leaning in to kiss you again, a little more soundly this time, humming,
"I know but… maybe not a third." He murmurs. You nod,
"Keep it in your pants then Osterfield." You squeal as he smacks your bottom before he's fishing two more forks from the drawer,
"Let's see how much baby boy likes cake before his big sister's tea parties." He murmurs, handing one to you and twirling one between his fingers. He watches you chew for a moment, wondering how he got so lucky with two of the most gorgeous girls on earth and a little boy on the way.
Bestieeeee!!! Dad! Ben Mears and Dad!Harrison seem to be alternating a little more frequently than normal lately.
Imagine that Harrison and the reader have been actively trying for a kid for a while and finally they're gonna be parents. Harrison and wifey are super excited, like they're ready to go before she's even showing (lol). Harrison has a mixtape made of a bunch of different stuff and he'd put his headphones on your belly so that the baby can listen to the music.
When their daughter is finally born she's SO FRIGGIN TINY!!! The nurse who delivered her was actually scared that she was born too early but she was perfectly fine. She's also got her daddy's full head of hair too!!
The reader is asleep for a little while but when she wakes up, she sees Harrison in the rocker, sans shirt, holding the baby against his bare chest singing this to her while she's tucked underneath her little pink crochet blanket Harrison's mom made for her.
His mom and dad both come to visit in the morning and his mom shows the reader all the pictures of Harrison's dad holding him as a baby and she almost shits herself in shock.
Because she knows that when she and Harrison eventually have boys, they're all gonna look just like Harrison (lol)
GIRL!DAD HARRISON? Yeahhhhhhhh
no but a shirtless Harrison holding a baby with a little mop of blonde hair like him? 🥺🥺🥺
A tiny baby in his arms tucked into a chest like that? I would let him put another baby immediately
Looking at pictures of him as a baby and you realise that damn those genes are strong and pretty soon it’s just gonna be a bunch of mini Harrison’s running around the house
Ok since I miss the irregulars could you please write prompt 29 from the dad/stepdad prompts with harrison????
Summary: harrison takes your son to meet the cast of the irregulars
Dad!Harrison x reader

“Please make sure you’re not overwhelming him,” you stated. You'd been staying with Harrison while he was filming the irregulars, he was very unwilling to leave you and Jack back in London for so long. So you’d stay in his trailer with your baby boy while he filmed.
Today he’d finally managed to convince you to let him introduce Jack to the rest of the cast while you took a well deserved nap on the comfy couch with no distractions and no needy babies.
“He’ll be perfectly fine,” he assured, smoothing down your hair and leaning forward to place a kiss on your forehead. You nodded nervously, eyes flickering between your love and your baby.
“Okay, well, have fun.” You kissed Jack’s cheek and then gently kissed Harrison’s lips, waving the two out of the door before getting into your makeshift bed for the afternoon.

Harrison walked through the set with his baby held close to his chest, the little thing babbling mindlessly and randomly. More than a few people saw the bub and complimented the new dad, but he wasn’t stopped by anyone until he approached the area near a couple of his co-stars.
“Is that baby Osterfield?” he heard a voice ask. He turned his head to see Jojo standing with Thaddea, both of the two with wide eyes, itching to get the baby in their arms. The blonde grinned, pressing a few kisses to his bubba’s cheek before carefully handing him over to his castmate.
He watched as the two gushed over the young baby, Jack soaking up all the attention that he loved so much and could never possibly get tired of. He’d never heard the boy giggle so much.
Apparently he’d attracted a crowd with his loud babbles, Darci and Mckell finding their way over to greet Jack for the first time.
Harrison thought he may be getting replaced by his friends at this rate if his baby didn’t stop being so adorable.
“He’s just so cute,” Darci stated, lifting the baby from her friend's arms to cradle him against her chest.
It was all going well for a while, the cast asking numerous questions about Jack and how you were doing and how both of you were adjusting to being parents, but eventually the little boy grew rather distressed around the strangers, looking towards his dad crying to be back in his arms.
“Well, I should get him back to his mummy,” he said, bouncing the little one in his arms in hope his tears would stop. It was obvious to the dad that the boy just wanted his mum, whether it was out of hunger or lack of her attention, but he recognised that deprived cry anywhere.
He waved goodbye to his friends, trying to coax his boy to do the same, but apparently that wasn’t going to happen.
You knew being a mother of a three year old and a job would take a toll on you even though you had a very loving and supportive husband you had your fair share of bad days, for example today. You woke with a pounding in your head, you sent a quick text to your boss saying you couldn't come in today.
Of course Harrison made sure you got to rest and decided to take care of Emma for the day. After helping you with your meds and tucking you in he went straight to your three year old's room. "Em, morning princess." he cooed as the little girl shuffled in her bed.
"Where's mumma?" She asked.
"Mumma's not feeling well today," he scooped her out of her bed, "so I'll be your mumma for the day." He beamed as she giggled, "How about we make some breakfast?" She nodded.
"Dada wait!"
"What's wrong?"
"We have to brush our teeth first silly." She giggled. "Right! Yes." Harrison said and made his way to the bathroom with Emma on his hip.
"There! Done?" He asked after he helped her brush her teeth and helped her down the small stool.
Treading down carefully, not wanting to disturb you they successfully made it to the kitchen, where Harrison managed to make breakfast without harming your child or burning down the kitchen. "Em, d'ya wanna watch a movie?" She nodded excitedly and ran to the living room, her little feet padding on the wood made Harrison laugh at how adorable she was, her energy being inherited from you. Harrison had his back to Emma as he was picking out the movie, "Which one do you want to see Em?" He turned around to the toddler only to see her missing. Harrison began to panic, and started to search for his daughter all over the house; as his last resort he went to your shared room and saw a sight that could melt any cold hearted person. Emma laid her tiny head on your chest and arms around your neck barely reaching around.
Harrison simply smiled and made his way to your little one, "Princess, you gotta let mumma rest." He cooed at her, trying to get her off you but her grip tightened and made your stir from your sleep, "No, I wanna stay with mumma." She pouted, making you chuckle at her cuteness.
"Haz, its okay." You assured him and wrapped your arms around her, placing a kiss on her temple, "She has magic hugs, I feel better already."
"See, dada I made mumma feel better." She beamed at your husband who was smiling at her.
"And I'm proud of you, my princess." He said laying next to you and cuddling the two of you, spending the entire day like that along with a few giggles courtesy of Emma.

The reader is in her first trimester and is either not feeling well or craving sweets (or both) and Harrison pampers her the whole day with messages, bubble baths, spaghetti dinner, and flowers.
Pregnancy was taking a toll on you, and you were only in your first trimester. Harrison knew that you weren’t feeling well, and was doing his best to help you out however he could. And he knew that the past week had been particularly tough, so with the weekend approaching, he decided to plan out a day for you. He’d already made you breakfast and given you a massage, and he’d practically been waiting on you all day. Not that you minded, really.
After asking what you wanted for dinner, and then running out to get a few groceries, he came back with flowers also in hand. Which, of course, made you cry as you hugged him tightly. Harrison had started to get used to the pregnancy mood swings, so he just hugged you tightly, stroking your hair softly as he told you how much he loved and appreciated you.
Later, after dinner — in which he’d made spaghetti, just like you’d requested — Harrison offered to run you a bath, and you couldn’t say no. You stood in front of the mirror in your room as your sweet boyfriend started running the water, pulling your shirt up over your tummy. You weren’t showing yet, even though your body felt different and you no longer fit in your normal clothes quite right. One hand holding up your shirt, the other traced over your stomach a few times to let your little one know that they were loved.
You jumped in surprise a little as Harrison’s lips pressed to your cheek in a soft kiss, and his arms slid around your waist. One of his hands settled against your stomach lightly, caressing your skin softly, “Bath’s ready, m’love. You’re so beautiful, ya know?”
It took a moment, but you managed to turn yourself around in his arms, hands locking at the back of his neck, “Will you join me?” Before you could even give him a chance to answer, your fingers slid into his hair and you leaned up on your toes to give him a kiss, “That’s all I want right now. My baby and my boyfriend, in the bath.”

It was fine sunday afternoon and Harrison was enjoying it with his little four year old son Jamie. Both of them were watching Spider Man: Homecoming. “Unca Tommy” Jamie pointed at Peter Parker on the screen. “Yes bubs, that is uncle Tom.” Harrison smiled at his son and snuggled into his father’s chest.
Jamie always recognised Tom on screen. Let’s just say both of them had a very special bond.
Harrison rubbed his son’s back when the doorbell rang. Harrison didn’t expect anyone to visit him on Sunday and that too in the afternoon. “I’ll check who’s on the door. You wait here, ok.” Jamie nodded and cuddled to one of the large pillows on the sofa.
Harrison opened the door of his small house to greet a young woman he did not know. “Hi. I am Y/N L/N. I was sent here by MacLaine's Orphanage.” The woman introduced herself.
“Yeah, I know. I got a call from them a few days ago. Please come in.” He invited her into her house. Harrison led her to the kitchen, glancing at his son who was busy watching the movie. He pulled out a chair from the dining table for her to sit.
“I am sorry that you have to sit here but actually my son is watching T.V and I don’t want to disturb him.” Harrison told her as he took a seat in front of her. “Oh please, I don’t mind at all.” she gave him a kind smile.
“Do you want something? Tea or coffee?” he asked. “Water will do.” She looked a tad bit nervous. Harrison handed her water. “I am certain that you know the reason I am here.” Y/N said with a small smile.
“Actually. I don’t.” Harrison gave you an apologetic smile. “Oh.Um.. I am here to ask for your experience as a single father with an adopted child? Actually I want to adopt a child but the orphanage insisted me to ask someone of my age and who has adopted a child. The orphanage is very protective of the kids and suggested that I should meet you.”
“Okay. so, what do you wanna know? Where do you wanna start? Umm.. Why do you want to adopt a child?” Harrison has never done anything like this. Was he giving advice to a stranger?
“Why do I want to adopt a child? Oh, I want to adopt a child because I want to. Because I want to enter the next stage of my life. And I can provide a child everything. I also have good experience at babysitting the children.” she reasoned.
“Okay?” Harrison wasn’t sure how to respond to her. “But you do know that parenting can be tiring. Right? And it is much more difficult than babysitting. Your whole life will revolve around the kids. You have to be there for them for twenty-four hours. And you have to provide them not only financially but mentally and emotionally. It is not as easy as it looks.”
“And do you know what the most frustrating thing is? It is that single fathers do the same struggle as single mothers but we are always underappreciated.” Harrison let It all, lashing out on poor Y/N.
“I am so sorry. I just needed to get it all out. I am sorry if I scared you.” Harrison immediately apologised. “No you didn't scare me. But can I ask you something?” “Yeah sure.” He tried to compose himself.
“Why did you adopt a child? I mean you are pretty young and…” Y/N asked.
Harrison sat up straight. “Three years ago; when I was travelling with my mate Tom. we found this crashed car with two couples and a year old baby and we called the paramedics immediately but the couple were already dead. Their baby somehow survived.”
“Me and Tom stayed with the baby through everything from that time. Both of us got attached to him so much that we didn’t want to leave him. And he also got attached to us too. This is why adopted him. And not only gave him my surname I also gave him my middle name. This is also because I didn’t know his actual name.” Harrison chuckled at the end.
Y/N had tears in her eyes. “I am sorry, Mr. Osterfield.” Harrison gave her a soft smile in return. “I don’t know how to feel about this. I am now thinking that I am not ready for a child.” Y/N chuckled.
“I am so sorry for demotivating you…” “Hey! It’s okay.” Harrison started to apologise but Y/N cut him off.
“Maybe you can spend some time with me and Jamie. I can train you a little bit for parenthood. Get you ready.” Y/n gave him a bright smile before getting up.
“I guess I’ll see you later Mr. Osterfield. And I will keep your offer in my mind.”
“Oh please call me Haz or harrison.” Harrison said as both of them walked towards the drawing room (I did my research. Drawing room is the correct word for living room.) “So that’s why he didn’t interrupt us.” Harrison looked at his sleeping son, a smile found its way on both of their faces.
Harrison wrapped the blanket around his son’s body, kissing his forehead. He then turned to the woman standing beside him. “I want to spend time with you guys. It won't bother him though. Right?” Y/N asked.
“No. It won’t. Jamie is a friendly child. He loves making new friends.” Harrison smiled.
And this was it. This was the beginning of their new relationship.

“And well, Tom spilt all his beer over my lap and I almost killed him that night.” Harrison was making you laugh so hard that your belly was hurting from laughing. “And that’s why I never wear new clothes in clubs or pubs.”
“Did he really embarrass you like that in front of that girl?” You said between laughs.
“He did.” He laughed along before taking some more of his drink.
‘Well, this doesn’t look like old clothes.” You fixed his collar and your lips curved into a small smile.
“That’s because you’re always an exception.” He copied your smile before you pressed your lips together.
Harrison always made one night out with you every week. It’s a little thing that’s been going on since you first started going out seven months ago and a very sweet gesture that always made you feel loved and happy. He was the best part of your year and you thanked every day you had next to him because the boy was perfect. Tonight you were in a fancy and reserved pub in the middle of London, just the two of you, sitting on a booth by the window next to each other, talking very close, him drinking his lager pint and you drinking the fanciest margarita you had ever seen.
How you met was quite funny. It was a nice day in London, one of those rare days that the sun dared to show, making everyone’s mood much better. You were working in your bakery since early in the morning and the movement was normal, with fewer costumers after lunchtime. Your employees were all doing their jobs, so you had a little time to sit by the balcony, drink a cup of tea, read a book and relax a little under the soft songs of your selected playlist to match the environment. And he walked in. You still remembered that Harrison was glowing as bright as the sun that day. For anyone else, he would have just looked like an ordinary London boy, with a white sweater, beige jacket and eyeglasses. But when it’s meant to be, it all falls into place, and to you, he was the prettiest boy you’ve ever seen.
Thank God there was no one around to take what he needed because you were just dying for the little angel that just walked into your bakery to speak to you so you could hear his voice. You closed your book as he approached and got his attention away from his phone. Before he could say something, he felt the loss of words when he looked at you looking up from your book, expression matching his. You both blushed instantly, but couldn’t tear your eyes away from each other.
“Good afternoon. What can get you?” You dared to speak up and he took some seconds to even remember what he was going to say.
“Hello.” He smiled and you smiled back before pulling a stray of hair behind your ear.
“Hello.” You replied and he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Uhm, sorry.” He cleaned his throat before recalling his words. “My friend said that you have the type of tea that can help you with stuff.”
“Yes.” You encouraged him to keep going with a reassuring smile.
“I was wondering if you have something for stress. I could use some tea to help me relax.” And then you noticed his tired eyes, he could certainly use some relaxing tea.
“I know exactly what you need.” You pointed your index finger at him before pulling away to prepare his tea. The boy sat on the stool by the balcony and watched you from behind. That day you were wearing the prettiest green dress with white dots all over it. Harrison didn’t know it back then, back that would turn out to be one of his favourite dresses you owned in the future. It didn’t take long until you came back with his tea and two chocolate chip cookies. “Here you go.”
“I didn’t order cookies.”
“I know. But you look like you need some sweetness in your life right now.”
“Well, thank you.” He pulled his wallet out of his pocket, but you stop him before he pulled anything out of it.
“Oh no. On the house.”
“I don’t want you to discount it from your salary.”
“I’m the owner.” You frowned with a grin and he chuckled.
“Of course you are.” He blushed even harder. “Thank you.”
“Well, enjoy your tea. I hope it can make you relax.” You nodded and started to walk away.
“Wait!” He spoke up in a rush and you looked back to him. “Why don’t you sit with me? I mean, it’s not like it’s anyone else here. And you’re also drinking tea.”
“I have to work, darling.” You smiled softly and he licked his lips.
“Ten minutes. Please.” His eyes pleaded for her to stay and she smiled before pulling her tea and her stool to sit in front of him.
“Okay.”
“I’m Harrison, by the way.” Oh, his name was just as pretty as his face.
“I’m (Y/N).” You smiled before taking some more of your tea.
“I like what you did to this place.” Harrison took a good look around the place. “It’s cosy and inviting.”
“Yeah, it was intentional. The designer helped me in that aspect.”
“And your cookies are really good.”
“Thank you. It’s my grandmother’s secret recipe.” You winked and you fell into silence, unmuted only by the sound of both of you taking your teas. “I hope this tea work. They usually do.”
“It’s delicious.”
“So, Harrison. Where do you work?”
“I’m an actor. Well, trying to be one. Just got out of an audition and it was a disaster.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. It’s okay. I’m just not that good, I guess.”
“Stop it! I bet you are good.”
“Sometimes I wish I could do something with my life. Like you did.” You nodded and rested one hand over his.
“We all have different dreams. Some of them are easier to achieve. Mine wasn’t so easy, I swear.”
“You’re very nice, (Y/N).” He smiled warmly and you smiled back.
“You’re nice too, Harrison.” You rubbed his hand with your thumb involuntarily. “But I can see in your face that you’re tired.”
“I’m very, very tired.” He chuckled and groaned before burying his face between his hands.
“You know, bakers are the new bartenders. You can talk to me if you want.”
“It’s just… I can’t get a role in any movie and I’m having some family issues. I don’t know if you ever had one, but it’s the worst.”
“Believe me, I had the worst of issues.” You chuckled and he frowned. Before you started to tell him your story, your front door was opened quickly and a kid came inside running.
“Mommy! Mommy! I made you a drawing!” The girl ran around the balcony and jumped on your arms. “Look, it’s you and me making cupcakes.”
“Hey, baby. It’s beautiful.” You glanced down to the drawing with a big smile on your face. You kissed her cheek before setting her on the floor. “Did Auntie Millie take good care of you?”
“Yes. But she didn’t bring me candy this time.” Harrison chuckled with a pretty smile on his face. “Who’s this pretty mister?” She asked looking at Harrison, which made you blush hard.
“I’m Harrison, it’s nice to meet you.” He stood his hand in the air and you gestured her to shake it just like you taught her.
“Hi Harrison, I’m Amelia.”
“Amelia, what a pretty name.” He smiled wider at her and the little girl blushed.
“Amy, why don’t you go upstairs to take a shower and wait for mommy?”
“Can we watch Little Mermaid again?” She asked excitedly.
“As soon as I can go up and be with you.” Amy didn’t even listen and just ran upstairs, leaving her mother behind. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s okay, she’s really sweet. I didn’t know you had a family of your own, you look so young.” Harrison was bummed out. The pretty girl must have a boyfriend or even a husband.
“Yeah, when I said that I knew that family issues are hard it’s because of this little girl. I got pregnant five years ago when I was 18, just graduated in High School and studying to be a baker. My parents didn’t take it so well and I haven’t talked to my father since.” Your eyes dared to spill some tears, but you held it back.
“I’m so sorry to hear that, darling.”
“It’s okay. I overcame all of this, used a part of the money my grandmother gave me to open this bakery and raise my girl. And she’s awesome.”
“I bet you and your husband are very proud of her.”
“I’m a single mom.” You blushed and his mouth fell agape. “Her dad was an old boyfriend that dumped me when he heard the news. Haven’t seen him ever since.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You say you’re sorry too much.” You opened a little smile and it was his time to blush. “Well, that was very intimate. I’m sorry.”
“I don’t mind.” He finished his tea, too soon in your opinion, you could just spend the whole afternoon there talking to him. “My mom was a single mom at first, too. Until she met my stepdad. He’s a good guy, and he’s my dad. It doesn’t matter if we’re not blood-related.”
“Yeah, sometimes I wish that Amy had a dad, or a father figure to look up to. She’s surrounded by amazing women, but no men at all.”
“I’m sure you’ll find someone who’ll love you both just like my mom.”
“Maybe I already found him.” Your eyes met and you were both lost in your little world.
“Can I take you out to dinner sometime?” He asked out of nowhere, making you smile. “I get if you’re a very busy woman and that you can’t go out with me, or that you’re not interested, but-”
“I would love to.” You cut him and Harrison could swear that those were the most beautiful words that came out of your mouth. You opened your note pad resting over the balcony and wrote your number with a little heart next to it. “Call me so we can set a date.”
“I will.” He started to gather his things and you asked him to wait. You rushed to the kitchen and got him some sweet pastries and treats for later inside a paper bag. Harrison was waiting for her by the balcony and his heart melted when he saw her coming quickly with the bag in hands.
“This is for later. Hope this can make you feel better.” You said standing it in the air. Harrison took a step further and hugged you. At first, it was a little awkward, but you gave in to the huge, one of the most comfortable ones you ever had.
“You made my day, (Y/N). Thank you.” He whispered in your ear and you closed your eyes to savour the moment a little longer., holding him tighter and resting your head over his shoulder.
“And you made mine, Harrison.”
After that day, you started your little romance. Weekly dinners at Thursday nights, movie nights with Amy every month, small cute dates, him spending his whole day-off drinking tea in the bakery just to see you working. The last seven months were paradise to you, it was one of the bests of your entire life. After long years going on crappy dates with guys who dumped you as soon as they found out you had a daughter, you finally found someone who you truly liked and you were sure that cared about you and Amy.
Oh, and the little girl just loved Harrison. She would rush into his arms every time they met and give him cute drawings just like she gives you. He was so careful and attentive with her, paying attention to every word she said, making everything she wanted him to and even doing little mundane things like taking her to school and putting her to sleep. They grew closer just like you did to him, and that way you were happier than ever.
Seven months later and everything was perfect. You were on your weekly outing and Amy was staying home with a babysitter. Everything was so nice that you wanted to stay that way forever, sipping on your margarita in Harrison’s arms, while he pressed soft kisses on your temple. That was all until your phone rang and your babysitter’s name popped on the screen.
“Hello?”
“Miss (Y/L/N)?” The girl asked on the other side of the line.
“Yes, Mia. Is everything okay?”
“Amy woke up out of nowhere and she’s crying a lot right now. She said she wants her mommy.”
“Oh shit. Okay, I’m going home. Can you hold it together until I get there? I’m not far away.”
“I will, but please hurry.” You hung the phone and downed your margarita in one sip.
“What’s wrong with Amy?” He asked, concern written all over his eyes.
“She woke up suddenly and is crying a lot. She says she wants mommy.”
“You can go get a cab while I go pay.” Harrison said and you nodded without even thinking twice.
You rushed outside and it took a little while, but you got a cab close to when Harrison came back. He tried to calm you down by rubbing his hand on your arms, but it wasn’t helping so much, you were very worried about your little girl. You rushed to your front door on the side of the bakery and left Harrison to pay the cab. When you opened the door, you found a scared 19-year-old girl on your daughter’s bedroom door.
“I’m sorry, miss (Y/L/N). I swear I didn’t do anything.”
“It’s okay, darling. You can go now. Your money is over the counter in the living room.”
“Good night, miss (Y/L/N).”
“Good night, Mia.” Just as you watched the girl pick the money over the counter, Harrison entered the house with worry all over his face. You both entered the room where your little girl was under the covers sobbing. You and Harrison sat on each side of her bed and she came out of the covers.
“Hey, baby. What’s wrong?” The little girl hugged you tightly and started to cry harder.
“I had a bad dream mommy. It was so scary.”
“Shh, it’s okay darling. I’m here now, okay. Haz is here too. We’ll take care of you.” You pressed a kiss on top of her head and she held tightly onto you. Harrison hugged you both too and soon Amy calmed down. “Come on, let me put you to sleep.” You got her back to her pillow and cleaned the tears from his face.
“Daddy, can you read me a story?” She pouted and you were both shocked. She just called Harrison daddy. You quickly searching his eyes with an apologetic look and he smiled widely.
“Of course I can.” He sat next to her and Amy rested her head on his chest to see the book he opened to read for her. “Once upon a time…” Harrison calmly read the whole fairytale book while Amy paid attention to every word he was saying. You sat in a chair right next to her bed and watched them cuddled together and Amy getting more and more tired.
“Daddy, do you promise not to leave me when I go to sleep.” She asked him and he nodded.
“I’ll be right here, darling. You can sleep now, nothing’s gonna hurt you as long as I’m here.” He kissed her forehead and she lied on her stomach over him. He started to rub her back and lully her with old songs. It was the most beautiful thing you’d ever seen before. Soon Amy was asleep over him.
“I’m sorry that she called you daddy.” You said once she was deep into her sleep and he stopped singing to her.
“I don’t mind, you know. She’s very special to me, and I love her like a daughter.”
“I mean it. I waited so long for someone like you and I’m grateful for everything we have and everything we achieved. But I think I waited too long to tell you that Amy always will be a part of the equation of my relationships. And if you’re not serious about wanting her as a daughter, I can’t go on with you, even though I love you so much.”
“But I’m very serious about this. About you and me, about Amy. I’ll be able to give someone the ability to have a dad, someone that I love. And I know it’s been less than a year, but I would love to start a family with you two. Help you with the bakery, take care of Amy, maybe have kids of our own. I want all of that with you if you want it all too.”
“Of course I do! I love you, Haz.” You slowly sat next to him and pecked his lips.
“I love you too, darling.”
“I can’t wait to start our little family.”
“I can’t wait either.” He rubbed your cheeks and you kissed him again.
“Come on, let’s go to bed.” You pulled him, but he stiffened and glanced back to Amy sound asleep in her bed.
“Do you think we can take Amy to sleep with us? I promised her I wouldn’t leave her side.” He pouted and you softened to see him so worried and infatuated with her. You opened a wide and warm smile, nodding right after.
“I think we can all squeeze together to sleep.” Harrison slowly took Amy out of her bed so he could take her to your bedroom. He gently placed her in the middle and you two lied next to her, making a little sandwich. “So this is how it’s going to be from now on? Our little family just having these intimate moments.”
“God, I hope so. I can’t imagine a life better than this right now.” Harrison kissed Amy’s forehead and leaned to peck your lips before lying down to cuddle with his girls.
“Thank you for everything. I love you.” He smiled softly and tightened his grip on Amy.
