sometimes i look at phrolova and nathaniel and think they could be one of dottore segments that transmigrated to another universe, although their goal is different, the archetype of dottore segment having green hair, red eyes and/or likes to attempt various type of experiments for their own curiosity and ambition, those characteristics makes it easy to point out on every character i see

Phrolova was one of the first characters we got a look at in the earliest parts of the Jinzhou story, and by far, one of the most mysterious characters at the time. She made minimal to no sound, and she was see conducting tacet discords onto the land we so desperately wanted to save. Upon looking at what minimal of her design that I got shown, I immediately fell in love with her.

I take quite a liking over unique flowers, such as Spider Lily’s and Dahlias. The way the flower coated almost entirely of what was her outfit, the ribbons plaguing skin and fabric, and the mysterious bandage over her eye, it made me love her instantly. Unfortunately, while she is my most invested character, she is S0 R1, but I plan to get more copies of her, if I manage to save corals, or a patch doesn’t particularly intrigue me.

Almost a year after she was shown, she was finally teased as a character, and most, if not all, were far from disappointed. Her movements were methodical, her idles showed notes falling down, her attacks showed a dance, and she even kept herself signature conducting.

Upon first glance, you can notice that one iris is a pale gray, while the other, the one that is bandaged, is a soft red. I do not believe it is confirmed why she covers it up, but most have guessed it is an attempt to suppress what has happened to her, to hide what she has become, and what she had lost.

Her outfit, once a melancholic monochrome, now bleed with red, and her outfit shows a lot of small details. To start, there is the massive spider lily in the middle. Yet it’s also easy to point out the theme of her whole outfit. Dress ends, belts, and ribbons to resemble petals, showing that her attire had been changed to match what had happened to her. It was almost meant to show that this new persona, what she had lost, has now consumed her into this different person.

Her backstory is a simple one to understand if you use less language, but from research, she joins the Fractsidus in the world, in an attempt to bring back what she once lost. She grows an obsession, and it’s slightly reflected in her ultimate. Depending on which note color you have more of, she will either show off a happy, almost manic smile, or a saddened one, filled with grief. This, in some degree, shows the tells of her obsession and sorrow. The manic hope of bringing back those she loved, and the sorrow of it not working hitting her over and over again.

Her attacks are also excellent to look further into. If you aren’t aware, Phrolova is part tacet discord, in the form of Hecate. A lot of parallels are drawn to this — her attacks using Hecate with her conducting, her ultimate being her sitting on a ring while Hecate attacks, an idle with her dancing with Hecate — a bunch of lines are drawn. The attack string of her and Hecate dancing, shows how she’s almost accepted that she’s now one with what everyone else sees as a monster. The most interesting part — is her kit. Phrolovas damage is enhanced via echo damage, and her best echo? Either Hecate/Nightmare Hecate. The game is actively trying to get these two together, and tell you they’re one being.

Her story is filled with sorrow, grief, and obsession plaguing a woman reborn, to try and seek what she used to claim as normal. Yet that obsession and sorrow only lead to more pitiful tunes, and harm across the land.

For some people, it’s difficult to say if she is pure evil, or broken, yet I would say she is broken. Grief, anger, sorrow, denial, make us think, and act irrationally. Yet that state of mind hasn’t quite sunk in for Phrolova, that nothing will bring back what she used to have, and perhaps, that fate is cruel.

This isn’t as thought about as I wished for it to be, but it is late for me personally, and I wish for this to get out before tomorrow, where I will, maybe, talk more about hollow knight and SilkSong, since I started a new Steel Soul run in silksong.
