‘This is a foolish plan,’ Fenris told Garrett Hawke when the latter asked him for advice on the Qun, and—more specifically—how he could become the Arishok’s lover. Fenris had almost added ‘for a foolish man,’ but realised his warning would fall on deaf ears.

For Garrett Hawke had decided that he wanted to sleep with the Arishok—his latest harebrained scheme in this equally harebrained city—and once the dark-haired bearded rogue had decided on something, not even his beloved sister Bethany would be able to dissuade him.

Somehow, things had a way of working out well for Hawke, even though they really shouldn’t. Either the man was incredibly, ridiculously, extremely lucky, Fenris thought—or the Maker was real and loved Hawke very, very, very much.

‘But I want him,’ Hawke whined, ‘and I don’t know anything about the Qun or the Qunari. That’s why I need your help. You do.’

Fenris sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose: as much as he regarded Hawke as his friend, a competent fighter and wielder of dual daggers he respected for his skill as much as his can-do attitude, sometimes Fenris swore that the man’s occasional idiocy would be the death of him.

Witch or Goddess doesn't matter, a cat makes everything better.

What is the DA Create-a-Thon?

The Create-a-Thon is an event where DA fandom creators and DA fandom appreciators will be put into teams to try and win the most points for their team! Winning points has two phases:

Fanwork creation period. Creators make their art, fics, renders, or whatever else they like and post to the Collection on Ao3. Physical art such as crochet, knitting, and embroidery will be accepted (pending mod approval). Works will remain hidden until the end of the creation period and teams can win points for each work, with extra points for things like longest fic or most characters in an art piece.

Fanwork appreciation period: Interim points will be tallied and then teams can earn extra points for commenting on fics in the collection (limit 1 point per user per fic) or writing and posting recommendation lists (1 point per user).

The winning team will be announced with all members and will get a custom banner for their team (and bragging rights)

What kind of works can be posted?

Any DA fanworks that were created during the creation period and can be posted to Ao3. Crossovers or AUs will be accepted as long as there is at least 1 DA character. Please try to tag works as accurately as possible, so that others can seek out fics they’re interested in during the appreciation period or avoid those that they may not wish to engage with for whatever reason.

Who can participate?

Anyone in the DA fandom who is 18+ and has a discord account, creators or otherwise! Commenting on fics also earns points for teams, so producing something isn’t necessary to participate! We’ll try and keep the teams even between creators and appreciators.

Unfortunately, this event will be 18+ only.

Sign-ups open: September 11-25, 2023

Team creation: September 26-30, 2023

Creation period: October 1-31, 2023

Appreciation period: November 1-13, 2023

We are looking for team ideas!

Last year the competition was centered around Team Canon vs. Team AU with members from each team required to create at least 1 work that was either associated with the canon Dragon Age setting or an AU setting.

This year, we are looking for ideas for teams again! We may have 2, 3, or 4 teams, depending on the number of sign ups we receive.

If you’ve got an idea for a theme, please let us know in the comments, reblogs, or asks.
