The reason the setting is Tevinter is because
1. Tevinter is cool and
2. They can ignore literally every previous in-game decision.
Who is Divine? Some Southern heathen.
Does the Inquisition still exist? That organization run by southern heathens? Who knows?
What happened to the Orlesian Wardens? The who? Who cares? Ask weisshaupt I guess.
Who is ruling Orlais? The qunari are bearing down on us right now and there is a slave rebellion under our feet and you are asking me an irrelevant geography question? Someone old, ugly, and heirless. They'll probably have another Civil War before tea. Next.
