I made a custom face-up for the Lorenzo MJD! I was looking for him for a while from more local stockists but he wasn't anywhere... Until I bought him secondhand HEHEHEHE!!!! I wasn't a fan of the factory printed one so I decided I would just redo it myself. Below is just the face plate on its own.

Hi! I've been really wanting to try repainting porcelain dolls! I have a few already and finally had the time to try it out! You can see the before-after! I'm so happy I could save her hair, it looked to be in a worse state than it actually was. I wonder if anyone is interested in porcelain dolls nowadays, I think they are very pretty, just a bit old-fashioned but holding a lot of potential! She came with beautiful clothes so I'm debating whether to make different ones for her or not...

how good are oueneif/chinabjd's faceups if you send them pictures of what you want it to look like? i'm v new to dolls (and i really don't get the elitism lmao) but if their faceups aren't too good, i do have art supplies and could prob go to goodwill and get cheap doll heads to practice on instead of spending $$$
In my experience custom faceups from Oueneifs are extraordinary. Examples:
But you have to talk to the seller and provide pictures of what you want in a clear way.
Their regular faceups aren't bad, but are pretty much generic, so make sure to clear that out with the seller before and during your order.
It's not the same to work on resin than to work on other materials like plastic ore rubber, therefore, unless you find a resin head at goodwill, yeah...it kinda' helps you improve, but when you try resin you'll find some things don't work on it, so I encourage you to learn, but, in the meantime, get a pro custom faceup from Oueneifs.
Just my personal opinion.
Onto third layer, mostly watercolor pencils. Girl on right is NOT going to have orange lips, just trying to give a brighter undertone to my only light pink pencil on the next layer.

Ok, so I've been on a productive custom-making kick lately. Here's another project I've procrastinated on but finally finished just in time for the holidays: Minty!
Once again, her faceup is mostly acrylics (it's below freezing outside and I'm lazy ok!!). Her shirt is from a Snapstar, her skirt is thrifted (Bratz I think?), her scarf I've had for years, and her earrings and socks were handmade by me!
Also bonus pic bc I worked really hard on all the little details and I want y'all to see lmao:
