***Now that I have thought this, I can’t help but think about what sort of game B2nd would have been if the stone had somehow contained Providence.  Tiz staring out of the screen at you on occasion.  Tiz saying or doing something seemingly innocuous, and then the game “crashes”.  The man with the purple pen’s commentary is not nearly as pleasant.  I mean it would have resulted in a different plot, too, but I kind of want that game…

2.  Jannegard’s role swap AU.  So along with Tiz/Magnolia swap they also suggested other swaps and my brain eventually started running along the lines of a Tiz/Magnolia and Edea/Yew swap…so this is kind of a variant on that AU.  But like.  I just love the thought of girlshy Tiz being presented a FLOWER by Edea and he just.  Turns red as a beet and is like “ARE ALL WOMEN ON LUXENDARC SO FORWARD??” and Edea is like “what” “I’M, UM, FLATTERED?  BUT WE JUST MET??  WE CAN’T GET MARRIED?” “–WHAT MADE YOU THINK I’D WANT TO MARRY YOU, DUMMY?!”

So first Edea and Tiz have a very awkward meeting due to alien cultures, and then Tiz remembers that he is here to GET REVENGE ON THE FIEND THAT DESTROYED FORT-LUNE.  Now in canon, Magnolia mentions that she’d been intending to go after the Ba’al on her own, but she is still very warm and social after everything that’s happened and she.  wants to be married with Yew?  Like Tiz and Magnolia are in similar situations as survivors of disasters but Tiz is also the guy who just walked off to collapse in a graveyard.  So… he actually does the lone wolf thing.  Like an idiot.  He still travels with the group, they do have goals with similar destinations after all, and he’s polite and helpful but there’s just always this layer of distance, especially when he doesn’t make up a name like Magnolia, but just has people calling him “Arrior” and makes it clear he isn’t going to give them his first name.

Edea, often annoyed with him, tends to call him “Moon Boy” instead.

Turning point for Tiz is when they get to Al-Khampis and learn about the Ba’al from Rifa.  Tiz says this is where they’ll have to part ways, as he needs to find a way to the archipelago and can hardly take the group’s boat.  No, Rifa cannot come along with him for her research, it’s too dangerous, he’ll tell her everything he knows about Ba’al when he gets back if she wants.  The other three are like “uh…….Arrior?  If this is so serious, why don’t we all go to the archipelago to beat it up?” and Tiz basically does what he did in Eisenberg: keep quiet longer than he should, get angry when people won’t listen to him for their own safety, and start shouting.

…He’s got 2/3 people to shout against, plus Edea.  He’s not winning this. Especially because he knows they’re right, it would be safer with numbers, but four people against a ba’al is still risky and he doesn’t want anyone else dying and he finally just breaks down with that.

This is when everyone else realizes Tiz is an idiot but not as aloof as he’s been trying to act.  He pretty much gets told “ok we get you want to be the only one in danger but we’re friends and that’s dumb so let’s all go.”  TIME TO BEAT UP THE BA’AL

also Edea and Magnolia huddled up over the pendant talking to Agnès as Pope’s Cavalier/Pope’s Best Friend (OR MORE??) seems very cute.  Along with: maybe Yew is actually able to make compromises with some of the eternian asterisk bearers.  Just maybe.

also: Edea & Janne turns into this whole thing of “I’M NOT EVEN A LITTLE SAD OVER YOU YOU TRAITOROUS JERKFACE IF I HAVE TO CUT YOU DOWN TO GET AGNÈS BACK SO BE IT” yelling matches but then Edea’s also crying in her parfaits because WHY DIDN’T HE EVER TRY TO TALK TO HER ABOUT THIS?  IS SHE PART OF THE PROBLEM IN THE ORTHODOXY TOO?  like she’s not going to forgive him for helping in the conspiracy to kidnap Agnès but why didn’t she see sooner the issues in the orthodoxy?

anyway I JUST THINK ROLESWAP AU COULD VERY GENUINELY BE INTERESTING.

3.  The “Toll on Miracles” AU, aka the fic I need to finish.  I’ve just always liked the question of “what happens if someone besides Alternis survives and falls through the Holy Pillar.”

4.  I hope to see more of Final Default at some point…!  It seemed interesting.
