Ok so I got this thought in my head and I just gotta share it. Y'know the mutant rakshasa blade Noct can use from Ep Ardyn? Imagine if wielding it granted Noct some...unusual side effects, like absorbing the memories of those he kills with it. More importantly, seeing the memories of the daemons he slays from before they became daemons >:3
đ± the angst potential is OFF THE CHAAAAAAAART!...are you gonna write this? Please please please please.

Lol ohhhh god, you know what, because Iâm in a crazy hyper mood, here, have a shitty mini preview XD
When he woke up, he wasnât strapped to the bed any longer, and the door to the room was wide open.
Noctis could only stare for a moment. That was important, the door being open, his arms and legs free of their restraints. That was important, but it took him a moment to remember why, he had to delve past the heaviness and the dizziness, the way everything was swimming.
Escape. It meant that he could escape.
Ardyn was nowhere to be seen. He couldnât hear him either, but then it was hard to hear anything past his own breathing, his heartbeat thudding loudly in his ears, his head ringing. He felt cold and sweaty, his skin crawled, his heart was pounding too fast in his chest, and when he pushed himself up into a sitting position, his limbs were heavy, uncooperative.
In trying to get up, he fell off the bed, landing on his side and rolling, and he thought he might have cried out, except he was just too slow. The world tilted back and forth, side to side, and it made him nauseous.
But he had to get out of that door. He had to get away, he had to escape.
The walls looked like they were moving. Colours danced in his vision and he blinked them away. Pushing himself to his feet was the worst thing he had ever forced himself through, and he stumbled to the side once he was upright, resting his hands on the bed for balance.
Gods, but why did he feel so awful? Was it that stuff always being pumped into him? Was it because he had been lying down for too long? It was just his luck, for escape to be so close and yet have his body too weak to do anything about it.
Something loomed up behind him, a cold presence, breathing down his neck, waiting to tear him to shreds. Noctis pressed his hand to his mouth, breathing past the fear, waiting for the thing to go away.
He needed to move. He needed to get away from those monsters, those invisible ones, the ones that watched him from every corner of the room with hungry eyes, the ones that always seemed so ready to pounce at any second. He could feel them, he could feel them, and he needed to get away.
Noctis stepped forwards, stumbling towards the door, leaning heavy on the frame as he peered out. There was no one there, and the corridor looked as abandoned as the room he was kept in. The windows were boarded up, barely any light trickling in, but at least there was light, that meant there was something else out there, something other than darkness and dust and monsters.
He headed right. The place seemed big, so there had to be multiple places to get out, right?
He clung to the wall, leaning on it, using both of his hands on it to steady himself. His heart was still pounding in his chest, everything was still heavy and ringing. His breathing felt too difficult, his jaw felt too slack, his eyes too heavy, like he could fall asleep at any moment.
But he couldnât fall asleep. He couldnât.
So he forced himself forward, even when he wanted nothing more than to curl up into a ball. He had to keep glancing over his shoulder, at the rest of the corridor behind him, at the shadows. He had to keep checking for monsters. It felt like they kept following him, but there was nothing there when he looked.
Something in front of him shrieked, an inhuman noise, and shadowed figures rushed along up ahead of him, from one doorway to another. Noctis stumbled in his surprise, gasping, and his feet collided with discarded boxes. He went down, pain jolting up his wrists when his palms smacked the floor.
âOh dear,â a voice said.
Noctis tried to speak, but could only moan, a slurred noise, his jaw not working properly. There were footsteps coming closer, walking around him, and Noctis tried to push himself up again.
Hands grabbed him, hauling him up by his grubby t-shirt, his moans of protest ignored, and he was being pushed back against the wall, leaned against it, those hands holding him up. He reached his own fingers out, gripped onto a thick coat, and he looked up at the face before him, trying to blink past the fuzziness, the way his vision swam.
âI was wondering where you had run off to,â Ardyn said gently, smiling.
Noctis moaned, tried to turn away, nearly fell over.
Ardynâs hands caught him, one settling on his waist. âAh, careful now,â he murmured. His other hand moved upwards, cupped Noctisâs jaw, and Noctis could only hold onto his wrist, limbs heavy and weak. âYou donât want to have an accident, do you?â Ardyn chuckled.
He wouldnât be able to escape, not like this, not with Ardyn so stronger than he was, not when he could barely hold himself up. He almost wanted to sob from it, frustration making his eyes water, but he was just so tired.
Another shriek, from further down the corridor. Something moved, person-shaped, crawling along the floor in jerky movements, disappearing into another room, and Noctis heard himself whimper a little, turning his face into Ardynâs chest, clutching at him, trying to hide away.
âWhatâs happening?â he tried to ask, but it mostly came out slurred, his tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth.
Ardyn chuckled, his hands running through his greasy hair, holding Noctis to him. âWhy, whatever are you talking about, dear Noctis?â he said, his voice soothing, and it rumbled through his chest, through Noctisâs ear and into his head. It wasnât comforting. âYou have nothing to worry about. Iâm here now.â
Noctis clenched his fingers into Ardynâs clothes and squeezed his eyes shut.
SkyexAnya - Itâs Nothing (only if you wanna though. I have a mighty need for this kinda sickfic)
Once again, this ended up longer than I originally intended, but I LOVE WRITING ABOUT OUR GAY CHILDREN. Anya hates asking for help so, so much.
â
âYour face is kind of red. Are you feeling alright?â
It took Anya a moment to register that she was the one being addressed, and then another to think to respond. âYeah, Iâm good.â
Not entirely true, but it could have been a lot worse. Sure, her head felt like it was full of fog, and she was sweating like a pig despite the cool mountain air, but that was okay. Sheâd power through it.
âSeriously, we can stop if you need to.â
Who was even talking to her? Either Skye or Evlyn. Maiyu? It was a girlâs voice, she knew that much. âIâm fine. We need to keep moving.â
She was not fine, she knew that, but staying in one place for too long had become hazardous. They had made several dangerous enemies over the last few months, and they couldnât afford to risk being found by any of them. Staying put for any longer than they absolutely had to was out of the question.
Anya was not about to risk being ambushed because of a head-cold. Even if said cold was currently causing her vision to swim. Sheâd be fine. It wasnât her turn to keep watch, so sheâd just get a good nightâs rest and be better in the morning.
âOkay, if youâre sure. Just speak up if you change your mind.â
Anya tried to come up with something witty to respond with, but all she managed was a quiet grunt of confirmation.
The next hour passed agonizingly slowly, fatigue seeping into all of Anyaâs muscles, her joints aching. Her throat had begun to feel like it was coated with sand, and âfoggyâ could no longer even begin to describe the way her brain was responding to the world.
âHellooo? Anyone home?â
Or rather, how it wasnât. A hand was waving in front of her face. She had no idea whose.
âI said, are you doing any better?â
No, Iâm really not. âIâm fine,â she slurred out. Her mouth was a desert, and her tongue stuck to her teeth when she tried to talk.
âAnya, you can rest if you needââ
âI said Iâm fine!â It could have been louder, but it came out raspy despite her best efforts. Her head swam as she realized exactly how much air she had just used to make herself heard. Since when was something as basic as yelling so difficult?
And why was the sky brown?
Oh, wait. Thatâs dirt.
So went Anyaâs fading thoughts as the ground rushed up to meet her.
Fire. Blood. Blood and smoke and screaming and Sensei please donât die not again.
âTake the egg and run.â
Everything was burning, the sky was red, her hands were red she took a life she took a human life.
Running. A blade at her neck. Escape. Have to escape.
Did anybody else escape?
Keep going. Keep running. Escape the flames. Escape the fire. Too hot. Too hot.
No way out. The flames had surrounded her. She was burning burning alive please no and then faces, flesh seared away by the fire, unrecognizable dead dead all dead there had to be someone still alive.
She was on fire, the heat penetrated her very bones, so hot so hot make the burning stop pleaseâ
Cold.
Her forehead was cold.
The heat was still there, but the fire was gone. Her head throbbed as she became aware of her surroundings.
It was dark. Not the dark of night, but of shade. She wasnât inside, but she knew that was in some kind of shelter. She felt awful, like she had just lost a fight with a troll. And she was lying down. Though she had no idea why, it felt nice. The muffled sounds of talking reached her ears, distant and fuzzy, even though she could tell they were close.
Anya reached up to feel her forehead and flinched away from the cold, wet cloth when it touched her hand. It wasnât just her muscles that ached; even her skin was sensitive. She sat up and moved to place the cloth off to the side, then hissed in pain as a pounding headache made itself known.
âHey, shh. Lie back down.â
It sounded like Skye, but she couldnât really tell with her head feeling like it was full of beef stew. She didnât lie back down, but she made no attempt to stand, either. She buried her head in her hands and croaked, âWhat the hell happened?â
âYou passed out. Here, drink.â
She was being handed a water-skin, which she drank greedily from until the same hand pulled it away. âNot that fast, youâll make yourself even sicker.â
Right. She was sick. She hadnât wanted to stop for it butâ
Stopped. They were stopped. She was in a tent. They had stopped. âShit. We canât be here, we have to keep moving.â
âAnya, calm down. Weâre fine.â
âNo, no, no, we canât stop. Weâre not safe. We have toââ
She attempted to stand but immediately collapsed when the pain shot through her skull again. She braced herself for another impact with the ground but instead found herself caught in someoneâs arms.
âIdiot,â the voice said, and Anya could hear a smile in it. âCome here.â
Skyeâit had to be Skye, no one else could make âidiotâ a term of endearmentâsat slowly on the floor of the tent and laid Anyaâs head in her lap. Anya attempted to struggle away, but gave up when Skye laid the wet rag across her forehead once more, her fever ebbing away. Fingers wove through her choppy brown hair, and she melted into the touch despite her better judgement.
âNot now,â she rasped. âWe canât stop here. We canâtâŠâ
âShh.â Skye leaned over and kissed her gently on top of her head. âWeâre stopped for the rest of the day, and the campsite is as safe as it can be. We can afford to take the extra time for you to get better..â
Anya opened her mouth to protest, but all that came out was a ragged cough. She hated this. She hated being this helpless. She hated being a burden. A tear slid down her cheek, and she cursed herself for not even having the energy to wipe it away.
âIâm sorryâŠâ
âDonât be. You didnât do anything wrong.â
âBut Iâm not⊠It isnâtâŠâ She was so tired she couldnât even form full sentences anymore. What had started as a few tears devolved into quiet sobs, and she pressed a hand to her mouth to silence them. Weak. Useless.
âHey.â
Anya sniffed and looked up to see Skye smiling softly at her. âYouâre going to be fine,â she said, wiping the errant tears away. âWeâre going to be fine. Just rest.â
Anya turned her head away and coughed. âW-water?â
The water-skin returned, and Anya drank slowly until she felt a yawn climb up her throat. Skye took it back wordlessly as the younger girl laid back in her lap.
âDonât wanna sleep,â Anya slurred. âGotta watch for⊠for danger.â
âYou werenât on watch duty tonight anyway. Just sleep.â
Anya shook her head. Skye sighed and began rubbing Anyaâs back. âIf you get some rest, Iâll make tea when you wake up. Does that sound good?â
She wanted to protest, to say that it didnât sound good, but Skyeâs hand in her hair was soft, and her lap was warm, and she smelled like pine and the outdoors. And Anya was tired. So, so tired.
ââŠJust donât leave me,â she murmured.
Skye pulled her closer and whispered, âNever.â
With that reassurance, and with the comforting warmth of Skyeâs embrace, Anya slipped back into the darkness of sleep.
