It’s a warm summers evening but Peter somehow feels cold.
Not cold as in temperature but the kind of cold you feel when you alone. A certain empty kind of cold.
Peter isn’t alone though. Daredevil is stood next to him on the roof of some random building.
They had been talking. Talking about the past and how it made them who they are today. Each triumph. Each tragedy. When they fell quiet.
Peter is even going to try and guess what is on the Devils mind. But he seems to be debating something with himself.
Peter decided not to ask and just look out at the view. The sky looks beautiful tonight.
Just as Peter was about to make some random excuse to leave before the silence got awkward he felt a pair of arms wrap around him.
Daredevil was hugging him.
Tears suddenly filled Peter’s eyes. Soft sob slowly began to crawl out of him.
“Sorry D, I’m making this awkward by getting weird. Sorry” Peter said softly.
“It’s okay Spidey, you can cry if you need to” Matt’s usual monotone voice seemed to be more gentle than usual.
Peter wrapped his arms around Matt. “It’s just been so long since I’ve… been held. I kinda forgot what it felt like”
“What do you mean?” The Devil questioned.
“Well, the only time I, for lack of a better phrase, feel the touch of another human is when they try to punch me in the face” Peter answered his voice coming out thick due to the tears. “I forgot what it felt like to be held without it hurting me in some way”
Matt didn’t say anything after that he just held Peter and bit more tightly, as Peter continued to cry as softly and quietly as he could.
And for the first time in probably years Peter felt the warmth of another person.
—A Few Days Later—
They hadn’t really spoken about the hug and Peter crying since it happened. That same cold loneliness had already begun to creep back in.
Peter wanted to ask Matt to hug him again, just so Peter wouldn’t feel so cold but Matt would probably think Peter was weird for that, so Peter held his tongue.
That didn’t stop Peter from trying to reach out.
His hand subtly and slowly reaching for Matt’s before stopping and pulling away.
It was probably a one time thing and Peter didn’t want to make Matt feel uncomfortable. Peter May want to hold onto Matt but, what does Matt want?
It’s as Peter is thinking about it that he feels a weight in his hand.
Looking down Peter sees a hand in his.
Matt Murdock. The Devil of Hells Kitchen. Is holding his hand.
And as a small smile makes its way onto Peter’s face he feels the cold leave and that same warmth comes back.
After that whenever Spider-Man and Daredevil were in the same place they would instantly be at each other’s side.
Spider-Man would lean up against Daredevil.
Or Daredevil would wrap an arm around Spidey’s waist.
No matter what they always seemed to be as close as they could be to one another
