Real conversations while having Vietnamese coffee, keeping your fingers intact with play cards and when your hand needs a break, pet your dogs and letting the radio play perfect background music echoing in the village of the sea. This is what you see as a tourist while walking over the makeshift wooden path, houses built on floating drums, surrounded by fresh catch from last night including baby sharks and octopuses having a thought in your mind ‘What a Life’. The life on floating villages is not easy but you won’t find it on their faces, this is what nature does to you and the families are closely knit, they have better relationships than most of us do. Every ritual is done on these floating villages from a childbearing to traditional weddings, parties to funerals. The family goes for fishing together and if you are lucky then you could even get a chance to go for a midnight fishing session under the full moon. Sad sight – Hidden away behind the floating museum in the floating fishing village in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, was a graveyard for abandoned and sinking floating houses. These houses were no longer needed as people are now abandoning the villages to join their children,who are being schooled on the mainland.
