What do we do?
We collect money from donors around the world to support the work of Cambodian Self Help Demining (CSHD) and the Rural School Village Program (RSVP). Our charter also allows us to support the work of the Cambodian Landmine Museum and other projects stemming from either CSHD or the CLLMM.
The LMRF has 2 staff members and an intern living in Cambodia. They are working with CSHD and the Land Mine Museum to assist in implementing our mission and helping CSHD and the Museum and Relief Center meet theirs.
Cambodian Self-Help Demining NGO As of 2008 this a new demining NGO Â in Cambodia, run by and for Khmers to clear landmines and UXOs in low priority areas around the Kingdom founded by former child soldier Aki Ra.
Rural School Village Program (RSVP) In many villages where we have cleared landmines they have no access to education. Â The LMRF and CSHD and the Landmine Museum have partnered to create RSVP. Â We provide villages with the material to build their own school. The villagers hire the most educated person in the village to be the teacher. RSVP provides the textbooks, the school supplies, and in many cases the salaries for the teachers. Â Today (July 2015) we support 11 schools with nearly 2,000 students and 9 of our schools have been incorporated as recognized government schools!

Bor Ya Kha Junior High School Ready for the New Year
Pailin, Cambodia â July, 2011
Cambodian Self Help Demining (CSHD), an all-Cambodian demining organization, has recently completed a clearance operation in Pailin Province. More than two-dozen deminers worked for the better part of one month clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance from a field 50 meters behind Bor Ya Kha Junior High School, just outside the city of Pailin in western Cambodia. The area had seen heavy fighting between many different groups during the 20-year guerilla war that raged in Cambodia from 1978 â 1998. This fall, 126 students can walk and play safely in the fields behind their school.   CSHD cleared nearly 21,000 square meters of land, finding 5 landmines and 7 pieces of unexploded ordinance.  The difficulty lies in the fact that the sophisticated equipment used in detecting landmines cannot tell the difference between a detonator inside an unexploded landmine and a piece of shrapnel buried in the ground. Each time the detector âgoes offâ the deminer must probe the ground to ascertain what the item was that the mine detector âfoundâ. This is done on ones hands and knees, while sticking an elongated knife into the ground to find the target. Body armor is worn, but it covers only the chest, groin, and face.  Working at Bor Ya Kha, the team found 1,620 pieces of shrapnel, each of which had to be identified through probing. CSHD has never had an accident. One deminer told us âPeople looking for landmines donât get hurtâŚ.â  Since its inception, CSHD has cleared over 500,000 square meters of land and returned nearly 9,000 people to land that had been killing them.  CSHD was founded by ex-child soldier Aki Ra. It is a Cambodian NGO made up of other ex-child soldiers, widows, mothers, villagers and university graduates working to make their country safe for their people.  Info: [email protected] [email protected] +855 (0)15 674 163 Support this organization: www.CambodianSelfHelpDemining.org
