Two tailed siren. Ceiling of the Protestant church in Csenger, Hungary. She was painted by Banyai Asztalos Istvan in 1745. She's one of many designs on different ceiling tiles, or cassettes. The date is interesting, as she was painted relatively late compared to other sirens.
Information from this blog post, whose author was nice enough to provide me with some additional info.
She's crowned, perhaps connecting her to heraldry, as many sirens in family coats-of-arms were crowned. Her scales start very high, just below her breasts. She's the first two tailed siren I've found in Hungary, but I admit, Hungary hasn't been the center of my research. Two tailed sirens in church art are more common in Italy, like in these frescos; occasionally in other countries; and are relatively rate in central Europe, such as Poland, where I've only found one. The exception is Faronika in Slovenia, which I really need to do a post about.
